Fear of insects and snakes - how to deal with it

Fear of insects - entomophobia - takes its well-deserved place among other known to all phobias. People who suffer from this pathology are afraid of the arrival of summer, and traveling out of town for them becomes a real punishment. Very often, this fear develops along with the fear of spiders, for such people it does not matter that before them, most importantly, it creeps, moves, jumps or flies. Also entomophobia is often accompanied by isopterophobia - it is the fear of insects eating wood, termites.

Typically, these types of fear begin to manifest in a child aged after 5 years. In this case, the child simply does not understand what he saw, and he has a natural fear, which can subsequently develop into a serious problem. Also, the fear of insects can appear as a result of thoughtless copying of the behavior of their loved ones and if, for example, parents have no such phobia, they simply do not have sympathy for insects and incorrectly express it, this can result in the appearance of this kind of phobia in the child. Also, this fear of the child can arise after it is bitten by an insect, and if it is not provided in time to provide psychological assistance, then later it can develop into a fear of all insects and not only this kind.

Some of the influence on the appearance of entomophobia has also works of art, as well as films. This may be a consequence of a person's predisposition to the appearance of a particular phobia.

The life of a person with such ailment as fear of insects is rather difficult. He must constantly avoid meetings with representatives of this class, and in fact not only in nature, but in the city people are surrounded by insects, for example, flies and mosquitoes. In cases of severe entomophobia, treatment should be started.

In order to independently defeat the fear of insects, you must try to find out more about them and get true information. Seeing the insect, try to pull yourself together, and not immediately from it to run and hide. Try to find in the seen creature positive qualities. To begin with, you can simply consider insects on pictures and inspire yourself that they are very small and can not bring any harm.

If your child has noticed the fear of insects, you must immediately take action. Do not panic, you just need to tell the kid more stories and tales of good insects, you also need to watch him to look good cartoons. But the most important thing for a small child is the example of parents, so never with him do not show your fear and, if you really are afraid of insects, try in his presence to cope with yourself and not show your fear.

Ophidiophobia - fear of snakes - manifests itself in relation to members of this class also in the form of irrational fear of them. Most people who suffer from this kind of phobia are afraid not only of real snakes, they are horrified even by snakes seen in pictures or on TV.

Each person's fear of these creatures appears in different ways:

- in some, it occurs after a sudden contact with a snake. Usually it happens in childhood, when the boys try to frighten the girls and throw them to the snakes;

- it can also be the first encounter with a snake in nature or even its bite;

- the influence of parental education, if from the earliest childhood the child is told that the snake is terrible;

- education of the child on the basis of religion, where the snake is associated with evil;

- The influence of the press and television, where snakes are presented in an unattractive form, cause fear in people.

Even when you see a snake on a TV screen, such people begin to panic, nausea, excessive sweating, rapid heartbeat, dry mouth, shortness of breath, inability to talk and think, loss of control, a sense of isolation from reality and the fear of death.

The most effective methods of treating phobias are hypnotherapy and neurolinguistic programming.
