In the late 80's and early 90's, a film franchise called "Highlander" was very popular. The actor, who played Connor MacLeod, immediately got the desired popularity, and on the wave of success of the project, the same-name TV series was even released. How many films are included in the film epic "Highlander" and which actors participated in the shooting?
"Highlander" and the cast of the first film
For the first time the story of an immortal guy who has to fight other immortals, the viewer told the director Russell Malkahi in 1986 in his film "Highlander".
Actor Chris Lambert in this film played the role of Connor MacLeod - a man who can not be killed, a great martial artist. For hundreds of years he has lived on this earth and from time to time fights with other mountaineers. To conquer the immortal is possible only by decapitation. And Connor did well with his competitors, while on his way did not appear black knight named Kurgan. It happened already in our days. Simultaneously behind McLeod, forensic scientist Brenda White opens the hunt. According to the classics of the genre, in the final it becomes the beloved of the immortal.
Christopher Lambert for his career starred in more than 70 projects. The actor can be seen in the comedy "Podzemka" with Jean Reno, in the fantastic film "Fortress" and in the action movie "The flower at the road" with Joseph Gordon-Levitt. However, for most viewers, he remained an immortal warrior MacLeod.
The role of the coach MacLeod went to the Oscar-winning Sean Connery. The role of Brands played Roxan Hart ("License for marriage").
"Highlander": film 2. A short story, actors
The success of the first part of the "Highlander" marked the beginning of a whole series of films on this topic. The second part of the franchise is filmed in the style of cyberpunk. The viewer faces an uncertain future, in which the ozone layer of the Earth has worn out, causing an ecological catastrophe.
Also, the picture explains where the immortals appeared on Earth. It turned out that all immortals are aliens who fled from the usurpation of a certain General Katan. The cruel general is now dreaming to settle accounts with the last of the immortals, so the mountaineer again has to take the sword in hand and protect his life.
In addition to Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery, actors like Michael Ironside ("Remember All"), Virginia Madsen ("Mississippi Ghosts") and John McGinley ("Platoon") were involved in this part.
"Highlander-3"
The franchise under the name "Highlander" was not limited to two parts. The film "The Last Dimension", in which Connor MacLeod returned to the frame, was released in 1994. During this period, the TV series "Highlander" with Adrian Paul in the title role was broadcast on television channels around the world.
"Highlander-3" continues the story line of the first film, not the second one. In this part, Connor looks young and full of energy. He just overcame all his opponents and was the only immortal on Earth. But the quiet life did not last long: the world again needed a mountaineer. The actor Mario Van Peebles, or rather his character magician named Kane, decided to conquer all of humanity. Cope with such an opponent can only one warrior - the immortal Connor.
In the film, in addition to Lambert and Van Peebles, you can see Deborah Karu Anger ("Car crash") and the Japanese actor Mako ("Conan the Barbarian").
The series "Highlander": Duncan MacLeod in the performance of Adrian Paul
TV companies could not ignore the success of the trilogy about "Gorce". In October 1992, television syndication released the series "Highlander" on the screens. The actor Adrian Paul received the main role in it.
MacLeod is an immortal who fled from his destiny. He is hiding from other immortals not to engage with them in battle, trying to establish his life in the real world. He does not always succeed in this.
The plot line with Duncan's participation was enough for only five seasons. In 1998, the main project was closed, but on the screens there was his offshoot - the series "Highlander: The Crow". Characters in the new film moved from the past, with the exception of Duncan.
"Highlander: The End of the Game"
Christopher Lambert and Adrian Paul met on one set of the picture "Highlander: The End of the Game." It was far from the end, the franchise "Highlander" had a continuation. However, the idea to connect the heroes of the full meter and the series in one project liked the audience.
TV actress Lisa Barboushe got the role of Keith MacLeod. Famous wrestler Adam Copland played a street bandit.
Subsequent screen versions of history
In 2007, on the screens came another tape, telling the story of the adventures of Duncan MacLeod. It was called "Highlander: Source".
The film takes place somewhere in Eastern Europe. The city in which Duncan lived together with his beloved, was destroyed. However, the fearless mountaineer does not lose heart. The film is filled with intrigue, because for the first time Duncan has a chance to become mortal. You just need to find the holy source and drink it.
In the same year, Japan bought out the idea of the franchise "Highlander" and released the anime of the same name. The animated cartoon was performed by American artists, but Christopher Lambert and Adrian Paul were not among them.
