Edged board in construction

One of the most common types of sawn timber is the edging board. It is made by cutting from a solid log. In this case, the edges are cut in such a way that they do not have a bark (survey). In some cases, such a defect is present in a small amount. Most often its magnitude is regulated by the GOST standards. This type of lumber is widely used in construction.
In Russia, the sale of edged boards is performed in several standard sizes. So, the product is produced with a thickness of 22, 25, 30, 40, 50, 100 or 150 mm, width 100, 150 and 200 mm, and the length can be 3, 4 or the most common option - 6 meters. When performing the work, the most optimal version of the dimensions is selected, which allow the maximum use of edged lumber, while ensuring the necessary structural reliability. It is also worth noting that it is possible to produce boards for individual orders in case a certain size is required.

In addition to the differences in size, the edged board is also characterized by the wood species, surface cleanliness, the number of completed processing processes. Together, all these indicators determine the grade of lumber. And it is this criterion that mainly shapes the cost of the product and, of course, the quality.

Edged board is divided into five varieties, namely: the best (the best) and the 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd and 4 th. The indicator is assigned to sawn timber according to GOST 6564-84.

In construction, boards made of pine, spruce, larch, birch, etc. are most often used. Each of these types of wood has its own specific pluses and minuses. The choice largely depends on the scope of the lumber, operating conditions, design.

In many respects the quality of edging boards is determined by the conditions of their storage. Most often they are stacked. In this case, it is necessary to ensure good air circulation, in particular - its inflow inside the laid lumber. Due to this, drying of the wood is carried out , and the boards do not rot.

In addition, in order to preserve the original appearance and quality, the edging board is treated with special antiseptics that protect against decay, defeat by fungi, tree-breaking insects. Manufacturers, as a rule, carry out such treatment under high pressure, resulting in a deeper penetration of the composition into the material. That, accordingly, leads to better protection of the material. The product treated in this way will last long and reliably.

The edging board is widely used in construction both for the performance of certain works, and for the creation of concrete structures, both for interior decoration and for exterior. Most often, the edging board is used for the installation of floors, as well as for the erection of roofs, the manufacture of ceilings, frameworks for partitions, rough floors and much more. It finds its use of lumber in the production of furniture. For rough finishing, the boards of a lower grade are selected, for the important elements of the building the best quality lumber is used.
