Edged board in construction
One of the most common types of sawn timber is the edging board. It is made by cutting from a solid log. In this case, the edges are cut in such a way that they do not have a bark (survey). In some cases, such a defect is present in a small amount. Most often its magnitude is regulated by the GOST standards. This type of lumber is widely used in construction.
In addition to the differences in size, the edged board is also characterized by the wood species, surface cleanliness, the number of completed processing processes. Together, all these indicators determine the grade of lumber. And it is this criterion that mainly shapes the cost of the product and, of course, the quality.
In construction, boards made of pine, spruce, larch, birch, etc. are most often used. Each of these types of wood has its own specific pluses and minuses. The choice largely depends on the scope of the lumber, operating conditions, design.
In many respects the quality of edging boards is determined by the conditions of their storage. Most often they are stacked. In this case, it is necessary to ensure good air circulation, in particular - its inflow inside the laid lumber. Due to this, drying of the wood is carried out , and the boards do not rot.
The edging board is widely used in construction both for the performance of certain works, and for the creation of concrete structures, both for interior decoration and for exterior. Most often, the edging board is used for the installation of floors, as well as for the erection of roofs, the manufacture of ceilings, frameworks for partitions, rough floors and much more. It finds its use of lumber in the production of furniture. For rough finishing, the boards of a lower grade are selected, for the important elements of the building the best quality lumber is used.
