The drug "Ursosan" is released in the form of capsules, each containing 250 mg of ursodeoxycholic acid active substance. The drug is part of the clinical and pharmacological group of hepatoprotectors, which possess choleretic, gallstone-dissolving action.

The drug "Ursosan", the instruction for use indicates, has polar properties, which makes it possible to form non-toxic mixed micelles. Thus, it is possible to reduce the ability of gastric reflux to destroy cell membranes in diagnoses such as peptic gastritis, peptic esophagitis. Ursodeoxycholic acid can create double molecules that are part of the membranes of cells such as hepatocytes, cholangiocytes, GIT epitheliocytes, normalize their functions, and increase immunity to cytotoxic micelles.

The use of the drug "Ursosan" can reduce the level of toxic bile acids that damage hepatocytes, stimulate choleresis, influence the safe resolution of intrahepatic cholestasis, reduce the lithogenic index of bile. Therefore, the drug "Ursosan", the instruction for use indicates, is used to dissolve gallstones deposited from cholesterol, to prevent the deposition of new concrements in the bile ducts.

Immunomodulating effect is achieved due to inhibition of activity of some antigens, normalization of killer activity of lymphocytes.
