Double glazing. Benefits

Glasses on the windows - a very important detail of any room, the last "instance", keeping it warm. To reduce heat loss, double glazing is often used. There are two ways to add a second window layer.

One way is to replace the existing glasses with special plates (sealed modules). In this case, double glazing with tinting can be used. The second way is to install an additional layer on the inside of the existing one. It should be noted that secondary glazing is considered the most practical method.

Today you can find different types of frames for self-installation. It is possible to carry out both the casement and the sliding glazing.

Glasses are attached directly to the frames or to special paths located inside the openings.

Double glazing has an alternative. It can be replaced with a transparent PVC or acetate film. It is fixed inside the frame with a double-sided tape. It is considered effective, although not strong enough.

Double glazing contributes not only to reducing heat loss, but also eliminates the so-called "cold zones" next to the window. The additional layer significantly improves the protection from external noise. Provided a good seal prevents the penetration of moist and warm air, condensation also decreases.

Experts note a significant increase in demand for double-glazed windows with triple and double glazing. To date, there are quite a few companies involved in the production of such products. Some dealers produce parts for additional glazing without observing technological norms.

When choosing a glass for self-installation in a window frame, you need to pay attention to its thickness. It affects the efficiency of heat and sound insulation. The distance between the glasses also affects these parameters. Therefore, during installation, a distance of at least seventy-five millimeters should be maintained.

Sheet glass for windows is made from two to six millimeters thick. For installation in living quarters, as a rule, sheets of two to three millimeters are used. In the aluminum profiles are mounted sheets with a thickness of five millimeters.

Experts recommend the use of colorless cloth in residential premises. It is allowed to install a glass of pale green or bluish tint. But it must be remembered that the selected sheet must pass at least eighty-five percent of the world.

Before installation it is necessary to adjust the glass to the size of the frame. Immediately before installation, clean the surface of the blade. Particular attention should be paid to the inside of the glass.

When attaching an additional frame, do not forget about the installation gap of twenty to forty millimeters. This will help to avoid freezing of the window during the cold season. The gap must be filled with foam.

At the time of our grandfathers there were no electric planes and mills, but they built houses for centuries. Be smart, do not get lost, and you will succeed!
