Agafia Melgunova was a nun when she received a sign from above from the Virgin, who appeared to her with instructions to go to the Nizhny Novgorod region - her fourth and last destiny on Earth. The temple erected here was built by the Reverend Seraphim at the end of his life. The son of a merchant family, when he was young, was healed by the miraculous icon of the Mother of God from illness, devoting himself to God, and he himself received a miraculous power, helping to heal the needy.

The founder of the church is Mother Alexandra

In the world her name was Agafya Semenovna Melgunova. A native of a wealthy landlord family, the widow of Colonel Melgunov already lived in monasticism, when the Mother of God who appeared to her sent her to Diveevo. At her own expense, she restored the dilapidated chapels and church since 1767. In the schema, taking the name of Alexander in 1789, she considered the work of her life to be the restoration and construction of new chapels for people in Diveevo: the sources attracted more and more suffering, and it became possible to receive all comers. A huge number of shrines in this wonderful place for centuries helps people to live, heal, hope, rethink their actions.

Source of the Reverend Seraphim

There is a legend or a story about how in this place, located in the forbidden territories in the sixties, during the circumvention by the border guards of the fenced territory of Sarov, they had a vision. In the pre-war years, the source existed, but it was repeatedly tried to cement or bury it. In 1947, the military facility appropriated this area of closed status, and the wasteland was deserted. So the military was surprised to see the figure of the old man in a white robe with a staff, and calling him, they saw the old man tapping the ground with his staff three times and disappeared. At this point three keys beat the key. In the sixties the source gained fame, water from it was transported to all parts of Russia. People came here to bathe in it. In the early nineties, the military decided to shut down the source. However, during the preparatory work, the Reverend Seraphim appeared to the excavator driver, asking him not to do so, and at last said that this would not happen anyway. Indeed, the soil did not succumb to the bucket of the excavator, and the source was preserved.

Subsequently, the order was canceled, then the Diveevsky Monastery was restored, and today the source of Seraphim of Sarov is listed in his charge, and a log chapel was built near him.

They say that even during the restoration work to strengthen the coastline of the stream for the safety of the suffering, there was one worker who injured his back. The appearance of Seraphim of Sarov healed him. Today, people are rushing here for the healing of physical ailments. The Kazan source

Diveevo is famous for several healing springs, the names of which any Orthodox person will say a lot. One of them today is named after the icon, which was found in 1939 frozen in the ice. The icon was very old, most likely, it got into the water due to the destruction of the well, which stood in the form of a frame over the source. Local people consider the icon of Our Lady of Kazan very strong, even newborn children were brought here, to whom doctors did not give a chance to survive, and miraculous power helped. The chapel was rebuilt and destroyed again, but the icon was preserved. One of the Shimon Chin kept it and was a witness to her incredible renewal, as well as many miracles that the power that came from the icon created.

Kazan Church today is located on the outskirts of the village Diveevo, nearby is the source itself, the oldest of all. The water from it has a beneficial effect on health. It is to him that believers come in the procession of the cross, to sanctify the water, to baptize children, to heal the sick.

Panteleimon-healer and his miracles at the source in Diveevo

St. Panteleimon is known as a healer from the IV century. Pilgrimages to the source today occur at any time of the year. The source of Panteleimon in Diveevo is not far from Kazan. Previously, people could not swim here, but in 2004 the source was equipped with a bath. In addition, water comes from it in two different log buildings, in which bathing suits for women and men are equipped separately. The Panteleimon-healer source is one of the most beautiful, its entire territory is very well-groomed, and parishioners say that the water in the bathing places of this place is warmer than in others.

How to find Diveevo

The Nizhny Novgorod region is rather confused for visitors from the near abroad, so if the area you do not know, then the landmarks are as follows: Diveevo is 180 km from Nizhny Novgorod, 65 km from Arzamas and 345 km from Cheboksary.
