Diseases of veins of legs - illness of inhabitants of megacities.

Statistics show that in Russia and in the rest of developed countries almost a quarter of the population has diseases of the veins of the lower limbs. In addition, one percent of patients develop consequences that lead, in particular, to disability. The most common disease of this nature is varicose veins.

In order to understand what kind of disease, let's first learn how the Veins. Outflow of blood from the legs is carried out by three venous systems: superficial, deep and connecting (perforated) veins. All of them are in close interrelation with each other. Virtually 90 percent of the outflow comes from a deep system. Surface veins collect blood from the tissues, and perforate it passes into the deep. Virtually all diseases of the veins of the legs are associated with a violation of the movement of blood first from the surface to the deep system, and then to the heart muscle.

In most cases, the causes of venous diseases are hereditary predisposition, various disorders, excess weight, which gives a load on the legs, more than necessary, a long stay in standing or sitting. In addition, hormonal changes, due to pregnancy, can also become a reason for the appearance of this violation. Vein diseases do not appear by themselves, their Development is preceded by signs such as heaviness in the lower limbs, convulsions, a feeling of fever, aching / stitching, swelling of the lower leg. Therefore, as soon as at least one of these signs appeared, it is worthwhile to see a doctor - the earlier the treatment is started, the more opportunities to go for a quick recovery and avoid consequences.

Diseases of the veins are divided into chronic and acute, a separate group highlight the consequences. The acute forms include such diseases as acute thrombophlebitis of the subcutaneous and deep veins, chronic conditions - varicose veins, anomalies of the congenital venous system, valvular insufficiency of the deep veins and insufficiency of the perforated veins. The consequences include postthrombotic syndrome.

Before starting treatment, the doctor conducts a survey revealing the condition of the venous system. Most often for this purpose is used Ultrasound and duplex scanning. The main goal of the treatment is to eliminate the wrong movement of blood through the veins. Diseases are treated most often surgically using the latest technology:

  • Laser treatment (closing the lumen of unhealthy veins without removing them);
  • Combined phlebectomy (dressing and removal of a painful vein on the entire limb);
  • Radiofrequency ablation (exposure to the vein walls by a thermoelement, through the introduction of a special catheter);
  • Echo-sclerotherapy (the introduction of a special drug into the veins, which "glues" the walls of the affected area).

Of course, each method has its own merits and testimony. Therefore, do not engage in self-medication - a competent doctor will choose the most effective treatment depending on individual characteristics.
