The boy, who was destined to become a famous film director and screenwriter, was born in 1951. His hometown was St. Petersburg, at that time still called Leningrad. Dmitry Svetozarov delighted his birth with the famous papa Joseph Kheifits, whose works are considered critics to the classics of Soviet cinema.

It is interesting that Dmitry Svetozarov made an "invasion" of the big cinema in an era of stagnation, when new film projects went out less and less, were subjected to merciless censorship and were similar to each other as "twin brothers". For the first time the director announced himself in 1983, presenting to the public the sports drama "Speed". About him and his work began to talk, as the film helped the master to declare his intention to get down to the genre cinema sphere, which was practically not touched upon in the Soviet Union.

The next picture, created by the master, and did not get into the rental. It was the thriller "Dogs", which became the first film project belonging to this genre in Russia. Officials did not like the fact that the director took up the study of the dark sides of the human soul. Drama was considered excessively cruel, as a result of which her demonstration was banned.
