Decoupage of cutting boards - the first stage of mastering technology

Do you like to make original items yourself? Do you have an artistic taste and desire to transform the space of non-standard exclusive gizmos? Then try to master the technique of "decoupage". It's quite simple, fast, and the result can be simply stunning, the main thing is to do everything very carefully, with the necessary technology. Going from simple things to more complex, you will see how this technique is universal, and allows you to create amazing things. The attractiveness of decoupage is largely due to its long history and the contribution that craftspeople and artists have contributed to it for many years, improving the technique, introducing something new and unusual.

Let's start with the simplest and try to make a decoupage of cutting boards to decorate the kitchen. We need the following materials: wood board, acrylic paint, primer, decoction adhesive or PVA diluted with water, soft brush, acrylic colorless varnish, paper napkins with beautiful decor, foam rubber sponge.

1. Decoupage boards start with the fact that we primethe its front surface and cover with acrylic white paint in several layers to achieve a smooth smooth surface. The paint must be necessarily white, so that the picture, cut from the napkin, appeared clearly and brightly on it. If the board is used for its intended purpose, we leave the side for the cutting of products in a pristine untouched form. The paint should be allowed to dry thoroughly.

2. From the napkin, cut out the pattern on the contour, separate the upper color layer and apply it to the front of the painted surface in the center or to the edge - everything depends on the pattern and desire. With a soft brush cut the slip with glue for decoupage or diluted water PVA (1: 1), brushing directly over the picture, carefully, while driving out all the air bubbles. It is necessary to avoid the formation of wrinkles and creases. To do this, the tissue clippings can be prewetted with water. We take a plastic bag, put the drawing face down on it and gently moisten it with water. Remove excess moisture with a dry napkin. We turn the package together with the cutout so that the napkin is on the bottom, and put it on the front surface of the board, smoothing with a cloth or sponge. After that, the package should be removed slowly, cut out the slice again and glue it with glue. Allow the glue to dry thoroughly.

3. We continue to do decoupage of cutting boards. If the background of the napkin is white, then after drying of the decoupage pattern, cover the product with a colorless varnish in two or three layers. If the napkin was colored, then you need to pick up acrylic paint under the background color and cover the entire surface of the board, not occupied by a drawing, this paint. So we will achieve the full likelihood effect, as if the pattern is not pasted, but drawn on the blackboard. Only after this we cover the product with varnish. You should pay attention to the sides of the board. They also need to be painted with the same paint, or with a contrasting color.

One of the most preferred styles of kitchen interior is the "Provence". The paneled wooden furniture, terracotta tiles on the floor, varied decor, reminiscent of the rustic very nice and cozy houses of France, create an attractive setting. Decoupage of cutting boards in this style is not difficult. It is necessary here at the end of the work to do an artificial aging of the surface with the help of the cracelium composition. It can be two-stage or one-stage (simpler). After coating with this composition, cracks appear on the surface, creating the effect of antiquity. If you rub gold or silver powder on the last stages of work, the thing will look even more attractive and refined. But it is worth noting that in decoupage technology, the main thing is not to go too far with the decor and stop on time, reaching the necessary "golden mean".

Decoupage of kitchen boards can be done in any style. In art salons and online stores sell a variety of napkins and decoupage cards with drawings made in a variety of styles - from classical realistic paintings and ornaments to avant-garde and constructivist. Selecting the image you like, respectively, you need to pick up ways to design the background to avoid dissonance. In addition, when decoupling the cutting boards to decorate the kitchen, try to make the work look as natural and natural as possible, so that the overall impression is created that the dosochka is hand-painted by a talented creative person.
