Decoration of a flower garden: a palm of areques. Areca at home: care rules

Even in small flats, true florists who want to revive the house with plants, find a corner for at least one palm tree. It's so nice to imagine that you are sitting somewhere in the garden, even if you live on the eighteenth floor! But in order to achieve the desired effect, you need to take a little care for the plant. In fact, most of the palm trees at home are not too choosy. However, like any living being, they require attention, care and respect.

How much light do you need

All plants make their demands on the level of illumination. Being, in fact, a tropical plant, the palm of the doe loves a good light. However, while the tree is young, it does not tolerate direct bright rays. At a young age, it can be kept even in the penumbra - the palm will be stretched upwards, but the leaves will not begin to curl up, curl and will not get dangerous burns. If you do not take urgent measures, they will start to turn yellow and fall off. With age, the palate of areca becomes more resistant to excess light. After a turn of six years, she will not lose any more, but her color will turn pale. So in the peak of solar activity, even an adult tree is better to pritenyat. Important note: if you want a uniform, symmetrical development of the plant, regularly turn the pot different sides to the window. You can scroll it a little every day, you can turn it 180 times per month, but you must do it, so that the one-sided freak does not grow up.

Water properly

Having a tropical origin, doe at home requires a certain irrigation regime. For it, both overflow and drying are dangerous. In cold weather, when the plant has a resting regime, watering should not be frequent and not abundant; In summer water is given more, but also only after the top layer of the soil has completely dried. It is very important to maintain high humidity in the room where your palm-tree is located. Care of her includes regular spraying of leaves. On especially hot days it will have to be done several times, and that may not be enough. If the tips of leaves dry - it's time to buy a moisturizer.

The drainage layer in the pot and the holes in its bottom are mandatory. Stagnant water leads to decay of the roots and the inevitable death of the plant. It is advisable to take a pallet much larger than the pot, and fill the empty space with expanded clay or large calcined sand. Such a filler is easy to maintain in a wet state, the main thing is that the water in the pan does not splash.

Importance of transplantation

Since in the room conditions plants do not have the ability to spread the root system in breadth as they grow, this should be followed by their host. A young palm of a hedge is transplanted annually, in the spring. The next pot is traditionally taken only a little larger than the previous one. It is not difficult to transplant a tree: it is simply transplanted together with a radical earth coma into another container. It is very important not to bury the palm in a new pot more than it "sat" before the transplant - it will take a hard time and it will not grow for a while.

The adult palm of the doe does not need such a frequent change of place of residence. She is transplanted after three to four years, when the roots completely weave the ground in a pot. Too tightly intertwined roots cut off with a sharp knife.

If you accidentally transplanted the palm into too large a capacity, for a couple of years, refrain from a new transplant. Just in the spring, completely change the top layer of the soil - this will be enough.

To cut or not?

There is controversy over whether palm trimming is so necessary. At home, the content is needed. Although some inexperienced flower growers expect that without it, the areca will become fluffier. In fact, old, darkened leaves, as well as broken, sooner or later rot and can destroy the whole tree. Additional shoots also need to be removed so that the growth of the main trunk does not stop. It is not necessary to cut off the yellowing leaves - from them the tree will still extract useful trace elements. Crop must be neat, not clinging to the trunk, because it is detrimental to the whole plant. And, of course, do not remove the leaves more than a year, there are new ones. Otherwise your palm willow is deprived of respiratory organs, which are responsible for the evaporation of moisture and for receiving illumination.

How not to go wrong with the soil

To prevent rotting rootlets, the earth is picked up easily draining. The water from it should drain into the pan in a few seconds. If you have to wait at least a minute - the soil is not suitable. To improve the outflow of excess water in the soil, add coarse sand, pebbles, granite chips or pumice. Fine filtration drainage is absolutely unsuitable - it slows down the drain. Also, it is necessary to ignore components that are not able to preserve the structure - they will cause the formation of a "swamp" in the pot, where the palm of the areca grows.

How to feed a plant

In regular fertilizer it needs from the middle of spring through the end of summer. The ratio of substances should be as follows: 9 parts of nitrogen, 6 - phosphorus and 3 - potassium. If the sale does not find anything suitable, it will have to be compiled independently. There is not enough nitrogen - the palm of the areca ceases to grow, and the leaves become very light, although the green hue is preserved. The lack of potassium leads to the appearance of orange-yellow spots. First they affect the old foliage, but with further potassium starvation, young ones are also captured. Then the edges begin to die, the leaves are twisted and dry completely.

In the period of intensive growth, top dressing with microelements is also very important. The lack of magnesium, zinc or manganese quickly affects the health of your pet.

If you follow all the rules and do not forget to look after the plant, you will quickly grow a luxurious arech - the photo clearly demonstrates what stunning success can be achieved with regular care of the plant.
