The 21st century is replete with weapons of mass destruction: nuclear bombs, viral diseases, hazardous emissions into the surrounding atmosphere. In each country there are special services that protect ordinary citizens from threats of this kind - the troops of radiation, biological and chemical protection.

The day of the troops of the RCBP is one of the military festivities, every year it is held in Russia and Ukraine. This is an integral part of the long-term defense of both countries, which would be powerless without the expertise of the RCB protection.

The troops of the RHBB in the history of tsarist, Soviet and modern Russia

During the First World War a new army was formed , specializing in protection from poisonous substances, as well as the use of flamethrowers. According to historical documents, the Russian Imperial Army for the period from 1915 to 1918 had at its disposal already 15 separate special-purpose units, namely chemical companies.

During the Great Patriotic War, soldiers and specialists of the RCB protection took part in the fighting, more than 40 parts were awarded for the accuracy of the orders, 22 Heroes of the Soviet Union were awarded to 22 military chemists.

The day of the troops of the RHBB since the creation of chemical brigades for more than 100 years in Russia has not undergone any changes. According to Order No. 220, issued by the Rosvoensovet of the Republic in 1918 on November 13, a new chemical service of the Red Army was formed. After 74 years, in 1992, the troops from chemical weapons were renamed the troops of the RHB-protection.

The catastrophe in Chernobyl, which occurred in April 1986 on the territory of the Ukrainian SSR, required the most accurate and prompt action from a variety of state structures. The main work to eliminate the consequences of the nuclear reactor explosion was carried out by the servicemen of the regiments of the RKhBZ. At that time, 10 battalions were deployed, which subsequently detected and localized the contaminated sites of the earth. The military participated in the operation to rescue people from the scene of the explosion, and also helped establish a sarcophagus over a smoldering reactor.

November 13 is the day of the troops of the RCBP, which is celebrated in Russia. In 2015, the troops of this assignment turned 97 years from the date of their formation. The most memorable holiday in honor of military chemists was held on November 13, 2013 - it was the jubilee, 95th date. The professional holiday was approved in 2006, on May 31, after the signing of the decree by the President of the Russian Federation.

The day of the troops of the RHBB on February 14 is celebrated in Ukraine. For 16 years since the organization of some special units, servicemen of the Ukrainian RCB protection have successfully participated in a variety of operations.
