Holiday days in Russia, as a rule, are not chosen by chance, but are timed to some historical event. This applies to the Day of Science, which is celebrated in Russia on February 8. It was on this day in 1724, by the decree of Peter I, that the Senate decreed the establishment of the Academy of Sciences. Later, in 1925, it changed its name to the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, and after more than 50 years it was renamed the current Academy of Sciences of the Russian Federation.

For Russia, this holiday is of particular importance. Over the years, our country has given the world many famous names that have made an incomparable contribution to world science. Thanks to such scientists as, for example, Pavlov IP, Korolev SP, Mendeleev DI, Lomonosov MV Science for Russia has become a powerful resource, with the help of which the economic transformations in the state were realized. The work of scientists has become an important component of the wealth of the entire nation and the force that drives progress. That is why the Day of Russian Science is so important for all of us. The work of brilliant scientists is comparable with the feat, because many of them conducted experiments and achieved results sometimes at the cost of their lives or health. As a result, the country's potential was developed, which ensures the prosperity of the nation.

Under Soviet rule, the Day of Russian Science was not limited to one day, but was celebrated between 18 and 25 April. For some scientific groups this holiday is still associated with warm spring days. Only in 1999, the presidential decree approved a new date - February 8, which became a holiday called the Day of Russian Science. Among scientists and not only this was an excellent occasion to recall once again that Russia has given the world a lot of famous names and great discoveries. Such scientists as Kapitsa, Kurchatov, Alexandrov, Korolev and many others conducted incredible research in the biosphere, created artificial satellites and nuclear power plants.

The Day of Russian Science is an excellent occasion to attract public attention, interest of business circles, students and all those who can contribute to the realization of the enormous opportunities and discoveries on the threshold of which we are now.

Today the Russian Academy of Sciences plays a huge role. It includes 9 regional branches in the scientific areas, three branches of regional and more than ten regional scientific centers. Within its walls, more than a hundred thousand people conduct their work and research, for which holidays in Russia (in particular, on February 8) - this is not an occasion to rest, namely, those days when it is possible to sum up the work, draw conclusions, discuss further plans and Recruit young forces into their ranks.

Numerous exhibitions, awards, concerts and other events and congratulations on the Day of Science give this holiday the necessary publicity. This contributes to attracting many young talents to the field of scientific research.

The state annually allocates funds not only for the holidays of science, but also for the creation of a qualitative and modern platform for effective work. Thus, more than 250 billion rubles are allocated by the state for the implementation and development of all scientific programs, of which the greater part falls on the implementation of the RAS programs. This approach of the state to science means that it is always top priority for Russia.

Throughout history, dozens of Soviet and Russian scientists have been honorably awarded the Nobel Prizes. The last scientists who were awarded this prize are Aleksey Abrikosov and Vitaly Ginzburg. Laureates in physics in 2010 were also Konstantin Novoselov and Andrey Geim, who currently live abroad, but have Russian citizenship. Congratulations on the Day of Science for such scientists are especially expensive, because they connect them with the Motherland.
