Long ago, in 1711, on a cold November day in the small village of Arkhangelsk province, Mikhail Lomonosov appeared. His family was quite well off. Father, Vasily Dorofeevich, was a peasant-pomor, and his mother, Elena Ivanovna, was the daughter of a pogivary of the churchyard.
