Where is Adler? Geography, transport and climate of the region

Adler is the southernmost part of Greater Sochi. The resort occupies a vast territory, which is bounded by the channels of the students' rivers of Kudepsta and Psou. It stretches from the meadows of the deep Mzymta to the Russian-Abkhazian border.

The city owes its name to the word "artlar", which in translation from the local adverb denotes a dock. Indeed, wherever Adler is located, excellent conditions have been created for mooring.

The parking of boats in the local waters is safe even in bad weather and is removed at a decent distance from the fairway. The depth of the water is sufficient for the raid of ships during the intense sea waves.

Coastline

That part of the Black Sea coast, where Adler is located, is represented mainly by pebble beaches. Here and there are sandbanks.

The length of the coast is 17 kilometers. The recreational zones are equipped with concrete bolverki and breakwaters.

Thanks to Imeretinskaya plain, which pushed back the stone foothills of the mountains from the Black Sea, the beach in this area is recognized as the widest on the entire Caucasian coast of Russia.

The district center

Adler is the center of the eponymous district. In his submission there are about ten settlements.

From the place where Adler is located, about 30 km to Central Sochi, to Hosty - 8. The way from Moscow by rail takes a little more than a day. A fifteen minute drive from the station is the international airport.

Climatic conditions

They say that where the Adler is located, the Russian subtropics begin. And this is so! The resort is extremely damp. Its level often reaches a value of 100%.

For three hundred days a year, clear and sunny days reign in these parts. There is practically no winter here. The months of December and January are relatively cold.

In the vicinity of the mountains, where the city of Adler is, almost never there is snow, which can not be said about Krasnaya Polyana. Frosty winds on the ski slopes are hosted between December and mid-May.
