Cumbria is an orchid that usually appears in those florists who have some experience of caring for the plants of this family. As a rule, it is acquired in the care of phalaenopsis and dendrobium, which are considered to be the most unpretentious representatives of orchids. And one day, when bothering with them bothers, the gaze of the flower grower falls on related plants - miltonia, oncidium, vandas and others.

The most popular among more or less advanced lovers is the cumbrian orchid, whose care is considered quite simple, although it seems at first sight more demanding than phalaenopsis. Like most orchids, it does not tolerate direct sunlight - only diffuse light. The darkening of the leaves can be a sign of insufficient lighting, while the reddening of young shoots indicates its excess. It is believed that Cumbria - an orchid, which is not too demanding refers to watering and humidity. Perhaps, in this sense, it can be even more unpretentious than simple phalaenopsis. Nevertheless, most growers believe that the orchid feels much better when spraying regularly, especially if the temperature of its content exceeds 20-22 degrees.

Watering is best done by immersion, in no case should an overabundance of moisture be allowed, the substrate should dry well. During the growing season, that is, rapid growth, cumbria should receive a sufficient amount of nitrogen during watering, and during the formation of buds and the opening of flowers you need to feed the plant with a special fertilizer for orchids
Predominance of phosphorus, but the concentration of any feeding should be 2-3 times lower than recommended. At the time of ripening bulbs need to increase watering up to 2 times a week, the rest of the time it is enough 1 time in 7-10 days.

The transplant is performed approximately every 3 years, a special substrate is needed, for example, a mixture of pine bark, peat and sphagnum. Since this plant is of the sympoidal type, during the transplant the bush can be divided so that in each part there are 3-4 enough adults and large bulbs. There is no marked rest period in cumbria. The flowering time is long enough - up to 8 weeks it will please the owner with beautiful flowers, which are often also fragrant.
