Cultivate clematis. Autumn transplantation

We have long been accustomed to seeing how in the spring in gardens and flower gardens a great many flowers are blossoming, which saturate the air with a magnificent fragrance. And their appearance is so good that even the look of experienced florists sometimes stops, amazed by their beauty.

The Clematis is not an exception, the transplantation in autumn is perceived by some newcomers as something incredible.

When to plant?

Note that it is possible to plant them in a permanent place both in autumn and in spring. But spring planting is not recommended for beginners, since the plant quickly begins vegetation. If you can not guess a little with the terms, then you will not get any more beautiful flowers this year. In autumn it is much easier, and the flowers themselves, being already rooted, will start growing much faster next year.

Just do not forget that the clematis, the transplant in the fall of which has already become a traditional phenomenon, should be well established by the beginning of the cold weather. Simply put, it's also not recommended to delay with terms.

Thus, to choose the best time for planting should be based on the characteristics of your climate and the timing of the onset of permanent frosts. Do not save on digging holes: their depth and width should be equal to 55-60cm.

If groundwater is close to the ground surface , drainage should be done by laying about 15-20 cm of large river sand or gravel on the bottom of the well.

Each Clematis, the transplant and planting of which is a troublesome business, is sensitive to a lack of nutrients. So in the pit is put a mixture of the top layer of fertile soil, which was mixed with five kilograms of quality humus, 50 grams of superphosphate, to which add a glass of ordinary wood-ash. If the soil is too low pH, then it is necessary to apply lime.

We're landing!

At the bottom of the holes, a small hill is poured over which the roots are carefully spread. Some growers advise to fill up with a sand even a root neck. Such clematis, the transplant in the fall of which is discussed by us, is much less prone to decay. Note that the root neck of old plants is buried in the sand for 10-12cm.

This will not only prevent its decay, but also protect the flower from freezing in the winter. The distance between bushes should be kept within a meter and a half.

What to look for when buying?

If you buy a seedling, then carefully inspect it for any mechanical damage, any signs of disease. All roots, buds and shoots should be normally developed. In addition, learn the name of the variety, because it depends on the method of cropping flowers.

What to look for when transplanting?

As we have already mentioned, transplantation of adult clematis is a rather troublesome business, so it is necessary to approach this with all possible responsibility.

First, the planting should be carried out only to a permanent place, tying the plant to a support, the diameter of which should in no case exceed a couple of centimeters. Given that the flower is growing rapidly, it must often be tied up. If this is not done, then mechanical damage is possible in strong winds.

This is what clematis is characterized by. Transplant in the autumn - an uneasy exercise, but with due attention is quite feasible.
