Correct monitor setting. Watch out for our eyes

It is a widely accepted fact that not all technical innovations exceed their predecessors. So it happened with computer monitors. More than 10 years have passed since the old cumbersome devices based on the cathode-ray tube (CRT) began to be replaced by their modern liquid crystal (LCD) counterparts. The advantages of the latter include low power consumption, low weight, compact dimensions and safety for eyesight.

This time, the marketing staff of LCD manufacturers did not deceive, they just did not say part of the truth. So, one of the main features of LCD technology, which is partially helped by the monitor's adjustment, is the discrepancy between the conceived and displayed color scales. That is, although the monitor displays all the colors, they are slightly different from those on the CRT screen.

Partially compensate for color discrepancy can correct adjustment of the monitor. One of the reasons for the distortion is the matrix backlighting system - its hue corrects the color rendering. More recently, all liquid crystal monitors used special gas-discharge lamps as a backlight, from which it is almost impossible to obtain ideal white light. Now such models are being actively replaced from the market by more technologically advanced monitors with LED backlighting. They are very easy to distinguish: the thickness of the case can not be more than 10 mm, and the power consumption is minimal. Diode LCD monitors transmit colors more accurately, although they are far from ideal. The second reason for the distortion of shades is the type of matrix. Rarely can anyone afford to buy a monitor with a quality IPS matrix that correctly displays colors. Mass distribution was obtained by inexpensive TN matrices and their modifications.

Visitors to specialized Internet forums are often interested in how to set up a monitor. The fact is that many of them begin to hurt their eyes while working for their newly acquired machine. Indeed, sometimes a well-designed monitor setup helps to solve the problem. It's not worth the illusion that the manufacturer's presets are the best solution. This is not true. Everyone's eyes are individual, therefore, the adjustment of the monitor must be made independently, taking into account the peculiarities of his vision. Here are the general recommendations for the TN matrix, as the most popular.

The type of the used cable (interface) connecting the video card and monitor significantly influences the image quality. It can be analog D-SUB, digital DVI, popular HDMI and Display Port. Use D-SUB in modern systems is not recommended, because it often loses to its digital counterparts in clarity.

To get to the monitor settings, you need to press the menu button on its monitor. Buttons can be hidden or generally touch sensitive. The brightness level is reduced to a minimum, because often even at zero value it is possible to work comfortably. But the contrast is set at least 50-75%. Gammu should choose warm tones, corresponding to natural sunlight. With these settings, the white color becomes slightly yellowish. Sometimes it is designated by temperature - 6300K. Various "enhancers" (for example, Magic Color from Samsung), advertised by manufacturers, to get undistorted colors, it is better to disconnect immediately. Whether to set the sharpness to the maximum value depends on the model of the monitor: on some this improves the picture, but on others makes it excessively sharp.

Do not be superfluous in the operating system to set the native screen resolution (usually the maximum). Thanks to this picture becomes clearer.

Working behind the screen in the dark, it is recommended to use external light, for example, from a table lamp. This will relieve unnecessary tension from the eyes.
