Screen resolution. Debriefing

Screen resolution is the most common characteristic of any operating system, with which every user of personal (and not only) computers is certainly familiar. This characteristic indicates the size of the image displayed on the screen of the device relative to the real dimensions of its projection part. And the image is measured in pixels - points on the screen, which can accept almost any color.

But do not think that it depends only on this parameter. Yes, it is indisputably important, but even more important is the technology with which the kinescope was made. For example, if you look at the sizes of Soviet-style TV sets and compare them with the size of the monitor, then we can assume that such an "aggregate" has impressive parameters. However, the screen resolution of Soviet TVs is small - only 240 x 320 pixels (vertical, horizontal). Needless to say, on such a "monitor" it is simply impossible to work?

Another equally important aspect of outputting high-quality images to the screen is the video card's capabilities. For some reason, almost all users think that this device is only suitable for games, but the resolution of the screen almost directly depends on the amount of video memory. Of course, this issue does not arise with modern models of video cards, but if you look into the past, you can notice a lot of cases when the card's power was not enough even to play a video or to properly view the photos.

By the way, about games. In most cases, manufacturers of gaming software have little interest in the parameters of the processor. But what they are chasing for is the performance of the video card. After all, the high resolution of the screen makes the game more colorful, and the game world and characters are more detailed and similar to real heroes. Therefore, if someone decides to play one of the last games, and at least "slows down", then do not run to the store and buy a new processor, you should lower the parameters of the video or simply replace the video card.

This kind of bail also applies to the manufacturers of the monitors themselves. Today, more and more video material and game programs are released in the so-called "widescreen" format, when the frame width is many times higher than its height, and it is not possible to change it. To bring the image on the screen to a convenient view, a special program is usually used to change the screen resolution. It is not excluded that the producers of both products have concluded a contract (or conspired - to whom they like the most) and raise sales of their material in such a rather unjust way.

There is also such a thing as screen resolution, optimal for working with a computer. As it turned out, not every size of the picture is comfortable for the eyes. For example, if for the old monitors the optimal resolution was 1024 x 768 or even 800 x 600, then on modern devices you can immediately notice a complete lack of comfort.

Usually modern operating systems (starting with Windows XP) themselves set the optimal screen resolution, but if this did not happen, then this procedure can be easily done by yourself. It is enough just to right-click on the desktop-free place of the desktop, select properties, tab "options" and move the slider to the desired value. In Windows 7, this is simpler: clicking the right mouse button, you need to select the menu item of the same name.

Users of the operating system Ubuntu screen resolution will not cause much trouble: the standard values are also suitable. All graphics are built in such a way that it looks optimal on any equipment.
