Connection of a warm floor to a heating system is a diagram. Water heated floor

The presence of a cold floor in the house leads to a certain discomfort, especially in the winter season, since even a boiler, turned on at full capacity, is not able to warm the surface to the optimum level. This phenomenon is due to the fact that the traditional heating system is able to heat only the air mass, rather than a dense and massive floor.

What to do?

One way to solve the above problem is to connect the warm floor to the heating system.

The implementation of such actions leads to the following positive points:

  1. High economic efficiency.
  2. Security.
  3. Practically imperceptible noise level.
  4. Unobtrusive.

A person who has a water-heated floor in the house can set the temperature at any time. In addition, this design is able to evenly heat any room.

Only accurate calculations and measurements are able to determine the correct connection of the warm floor to the heating system, which in turn will significantly reduce utility payments.

Advantages of the water-heated floor

Almost every person thinks that the floor has only advantages. Firstly, the heat goes from bottom to top, therefore, everything will be warmed up correctly - the feet and head will be comfortable at the same time. The same moment is the main difference between a warm floor and radiator heating, in case of the latter there is a rise of warm air to the ceiling, and then lowering the cooled down to the feet, which is not only less comfortable, but also uneconomical.

This same heat transfer feature allows the water-heated floor to improve indoor air quality. At the heart of the work is thermal radiation, and not convection, therefore, significantly reduces the circulation of harmful bacteria, plant pollen and dust, which positively affects the level of air quality. People with allergies or bronchial asthma simply need such heating.

Another undeniable advantage of the water-heated floor is that it will not be visible at the end of the installation and finishing works.

You can completely remove the radiators and arrange furniture, based on your own wishes, without fear that the room will not warm up completely.

Installation in the house of a water-heated floor allows to provide different level of temperature in the rooms depending on individual needs. All you need is to purchase and connect a programmable thermostat.

Another undoubted plus of the water-heated floor is energy efficiency. The reason for this is extremely simple - the coolant in the radiator system usually warms up to 80-90 degrees, when for optimum heating by means of a warm floor it is necessary 35-50 degrees. Thanks to the large area of accommodation, a lower temperature allows the room to warm up in the same way as a red-hot battery, but it costs much less energy, which leads to a reduction in costs.

You can not ignore the extremely simple maintenance. Installation and proper commissioning guarantee the uninterrupted operation of the hot water floor without human intervention.

Optimal wiring diagram

To ensure excellent work, the owner should have a scheme for connecting the warm floor to the heating system, compiled by a competent engineer. In this case, the needs of the owner and the features of the house should be taken into account. For example, the design of the water floor is affected by: the area and shape of the heated room, its layout and allocated areas, furniture and household appliances, and the number of external walls in the room that are the main source of cold.

The most common connection of a warm floor to a heating system is a spiral laying of pipes. True, if you plan to heat a large room, then you can use this way of laying, like a loop or a snake.

Regardless of which scheme the selection falls on, the water-heated floor can not be made without: combs for heating, a collector, a circular pump, pipes, ball valves, fittings, a heating distributor and other equipment.

Single-pipe heating system

Connection of a warm floor to a single-pipe heating system ("Leningrad") assumes the presence of: a heat exchanger (floor boiler), return and feed pipes equipped with shut-off valves, an expansion tank located in front of the boiler, a circular pump and a safety unit.

In this case, the supply pipeline is located immediately behind the circulation pump, and the return pipeline is in front of it. To adjust the temperature in the room, a shut-off valve installed on the side walls is used. It can be either a valve or a ball valve.

The heat exchanger at the outlet has a temperature of 80 degrees, and by the time it enters the pipe the return flow is reduced to 50 degrees. This is the optimum temperature for underfloor heating. With shut-off valves installed in the supply and return pipes, it is possible to completely shut down the system without stopping the operation of the radiators. In addition, a bypass can be installed on the return, which will allow for temperature adjustment.

Technological features

Connecting a warm floor to a heating system requires considerable modernization, as the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the heating circuit change.

The preparatory stage involves the solution of the following questions:

  1. How to connect a collector module to existing pipes?
  2. How to reduce the temperature of the water that circulates in the heating system, to the optimum value (about 55 degrees)?
  3. How to achieve the optimum pressure (8-9 atm.)?

Also you need to calculate the parameters of the system to be mounted, the power of the heating elements and the optimum value of the main pipe.

Suitable heating systems

If the house already has a coolant, then the way to connect the warm floor to the heating system will depend on its type.

If it is a single-pipe system, an additional radiator will be required.

Two-pipe already assumes the presence of pipes with hot liquid and pipes necessary for the return of water to the heat carrier for the next heating.

Proper determination of the order of the connection between the water supply and the collector results in the simplest and most reliable way of connecting the warm floor.

Important ! It is undesirable to use the gravitational principle of fluid advancement, since it leads to the fact that water can not cope with the hydraulic resistance formed due to different diameters, which can completely block the operation of the system.

On the elements of the scheme for connecting the warm floor

Connecting a warm floor to an existing heating system requires the following standard elements:

  1. Pipes (preferably polymer).
  2. The displacement node of the warm floor (its main task is to maintain the optimum water temperature - about 50 degrees).
  3. Collectors that distribute liquid along the contours.
  4. Thermostats are devices that allow you to control the system.

Mixing unit

The mixing unit for the connection of the warm floor is necessary to solve the following problem: the coolant leaving the boiler has a temperature of about 90 degrees, and the heated floor requires no more than 55 degrees. It can be connected to both a new one and an existing design.

The main function is to reduce the temperature of the coolant by mixing water from the return flow into the supply pipe.

The principle of operation and the order of installation of the mixing unit

The mixing unit includes a pump and a three-way valve. In stores, a kit can also be presented, which includes a collector and an expansion tank.

Installation of the mixing unit involves choosing one of the following methods:

  1. Mounting to the collector, it does not matter which side.
  2. The location of the mixing unit in the boiler room, and the collector somewhere in another place, for example, in the living room.

The second method allows you to get rid of the sound of the running pump.

Types of temperature regulators

The installation of the thermostat of the warm floor makes it possible to use any heating device without fear that it can overheat or fail. That is why this unit can be found not only in this system, but also in an iron or a teapot.

If we are talking about an electric heat field, the thermostat will not only set the optimum temperature, but also save considerable energy.

The liquid coolant assumes a slightly different order of temperature adjustment - a three-way valve or a circulation pump.

Some important nuances

Despite the fact that the water-heated floor does not have obvious drawbacks, several important nuances that can not be ignored are, nevertheless,:

  1. First of all, it is necessary to make sure that the arrangement of the concrete screed does not cause difficulties. As an option, you can pay attention to aluminum panels, however, their cost is much higher, and compared to the concrete floor, they lose heat faster.
  2. The area of the room in which the equipment of a warm water floor is planned should be at least 20-25 m 2 . If you need to insulate a bathroom or a bathroom, then it's better to stop on an electric heat box.
  3. In advance, you need to determine the floor covering. The ideal option is tile, as porcelain stoneware has the highest thermal conductivity.
  4. The main characteristic feature of a warm water floor under a concrete screed is a slow warm-up. It is recommended to use this type of heating in order to maintain the temperature, but not to turn it on and off permanently. So, for example, if you need to warm a long-empty room, then you need to turn on the warm floor beforehand, since it will take some time to warm up.

In general, water heating is the best option for heating a country house or a cottage, among the undeniable advantages of which can be distinguished: simple installation, long service life and low energy consumption.
