Concrete baluster: features of manufacturing and installation

Recently, more and more of our compatriots are trying to design their own homes in the old style. Particularly popular are the architectural elements characteristic of such areas as Gothic, Baroque, Empire and Classicism. After reading today's article, you will find out what balusters are concrete.

Advantages of these structures

These are small architectural columns used for decorating buildings. It is these elements that give the interior a complete aristocratic appearance and emphasize the wonderful taste of the owner of the house. It should be noted that the concrete balusters perform several functions at once.

They have long ceased to be just a protective element. Modern designers successfully apply them to upgrade the architecture. The popularity of these structures is explained by the fact that they are endowed with a number of important advantages. The main advantages of concrete balusters include environmental safety, watertightness, long service life and frost resistance. Products from this material are distinguished by their high strength and reasonable price. No less important is the fact that a well polished glossy surface for aesthetic qualities is almost as good as natural marble.

Forms for the production of structures

To make balusters concrete, first cast a special disk. It is important that its diameter is five centimeters greater than the cross section of the gypsum model. After that, it is glued to the end of the workpiece and marks on it points under the share chunks, from which the shell of the mold will form. Subsequently, in these places drill the holes necessary for assembly.

The received design is divided in half and consistently assembles the first row, not forgetting to process each part with a separating grease. Gypsum solution is carefully poured between the model and the formed board. After it has solidified, begin to disassemble the design and trim the edges. On the upper part, drill holes into pieces of the second row. All elements are varnished and reassembled, constructing a rim for the next sector. All the time again they are smeared and poured in with a plaster solution. The sectors made in this way are fastened together.

Casting

The peculiarity of this process is the use of a practically dry solution. To make it, you need sand, cement and aggregate. All these components are combined in the right proportions, evenly filled with water and mixed well. The readiness of the solution can be checked by squeezing it in the hand. If, after opening the palm, it does not disintegrate, then it is suitable for further use.

The solution thus obtained is gradually covered in a prepared form and carefully compacted. It is important to ensure that the thickness of the layer is from five to ten centimeters. Gradually, the form is filled to the brim. After a while, carefully remove the casing and wait until the baluster concrete is completely dry. After about two days, you can proceed with installation.

Installation of balusters

To mount these elements, special metal inserts must be provided in the lower and upper parts of the mold. In some cases, thin reinforcement is used for these purposes, which passes through the entire post. When mounting balustrades on metal steps, this bookmark is simply welded to the march.

It should be noted that this design of the staircase is much more reliable and stronger than those in the installation of which the balusters are attached to dowels or anchors.
