Colon-shaped varieties of apple trees are interesting for gardeners
Colonoid apple varieties have always been of interest to gardeners, who are attracted by the small crown of these trees. Their main trunk, overgrown with a spear, literally falls asleep by the autumn. Such apple trees do not need pruning because they have few branches. Along with this, plants have a whole range of interesting properties: they form a huge number of fertile lateral short branches that extend from the main trunk at right angles. As a result, the column-shaped varieties of apple trees have a very compact pyramidal-conical shape, which makes it possible to rationally use the areas in the garden, densely planting trees with high yields.
In Russia, the first colonial apple varieties were found in 1972. The best of their variants were planted in the nurseries of Moscow, Orel, Murmansk. As a result of selection, three varieties of this tree were identified: tall, dwarfish and semi-dwarfish, which became popular with gardeners who have suburban areas with a limited area.
However, to get a good harvest is possible only if the plant is provided with everything necessary for normal growth and development.
The seedlings are planted in a row at a distance from each other of forty centimeters. The planting pit should be sized so that the roots can be freely placed in it. Place the vaccine should remain above the ground. During the growing season , two or three additional fertilizers are necessary with nitrate or nitrate.
These fruit trees develop very slowly, so to accelerate their growth, it is necessary to help ripening of the renal vertex, which is considered to be their weak point. To do this, in August several plates near the upper leaves are removed.
Other column-shaped apple trees - varieties "Ostankino" and "malukha" - are the most preferred for cultivation for the purpose of further processing of their fruits. They give up to eight kilograms of harvest from each tree, however they are not stored for long.
A garden of such apple trees, fifteen years after planting, requires replacement, since during this time the lower crust's calcine gradually dries up and is no longer restored. As a result, the harvest begins to decrease, although the apple tree itself can live a good half-century.
