Classification of Russian Navy ships: description, types and ranks

The Navy of the Russian Federation is widely known throughout the world. It is considered one of the most powerful in all respects. The Russian Navy is on par with the US fleet. And this is not surprising. Well, we should briefly talk about the Navy, and separately touch upon such an interesting topic as the classification of ships.

Definition

The modern Navy of the Russian Federation is the successor of the navy of the USSR and the Russian Empire. These troops defend the sovereignty of the country that extends beyond its land territory, and also create and maintain conditions for ensuring calm sea-economic activity in the World Ocean. Also, the Russian fleet participates in military, humanitarian and other actions that meet the interests of our country. And, in addition to the above, the Navy ensures the naval presence of the Russian power in the World Ocean.

Tasks are many. All of them are diverse and have their own characteristics. And it is not surprising that our fleet has a variety of equipment and vessels. That's why there is a classification of ships. Vessels are divided into classes (depending on what their purpose is). And they, in turn, are subclassed. Everything depends on the specialization, such as the power plant and the displacement.

It is also important to know that all ships are also divided into ranks. The distribution on them depends on tactical and technical elements and direct purpose. And first I would like to say that Russia has four grades, and the first one is considered to be the highest one.

General characteristic of the first rank

This class includes atomic submarines, as well as large surface ships. That is, aircraft carriers, anti-submarine, rocket, heavy and light cruisers, and also battleships. All vessels of the first rank have precedence over the others in those matters relating to supply and manning. And, of course, in terms of ceremonial procedures.

The commander of a ship of the first rank is obliged to be responsible for the mobilization, as well as the combat readiness of his regiment. Still - to monitor the successful implementation of combat missions and training, education, discipline of personnel. He is also responsible for the internal order, as well as for the safety of weapons and related equipment. And, of course, he is obliged to control the material, financial, medical, etc. maintenance of the regiment.

Vessels belonging to the first rank

The classification of Russian ships is very detailed. Above all are aircraft carriers. These are large surface ships of special purpose, the main strike force of which is in deck aviation. They provide air cover, landing forces, as well as air strikes against the connection of enemy ships. Plus, they are used to transport goods and people. The main armament is helicopters and airplanes based on the deck. They are also equipped with all the necessary means of ensuring the functioning and basing of aircraft.

Next are the cruisers - combat surface ships that perform tasks regardless of the main forces of the Navy. They use artillery, missile, mine-torpedo, anti-submarine weapons and air defense. The cruisers can destroy the ships of opponents, keep the defenses and maintain the coastal flanks of the ground forces.

Also to the first rank is a destroyer, the main armament of which is the SAM and a strike missile system. This classification of ships includes submarine warships. They destroy enemy vessels, conduct reconnaissance, secretly placing minefields. Their armament is mine-torpedo and missile. Also to the 1st rank are anti-submarine and amphibious ships.

Subclasses: Cruisers

Since the first rank is the most serious, it is necessary to note the subclasses of ships. First on the list are heavy aircraft-carrying cruisers. Their displacement is more than 25 000 tons! They work on a steam turbine power plant. It is this classification of ships of the Russian Navy that demonstrates on the international arena the might of our state.

Following are heavy atomic missile cruisers. Their characteristics are close to that of the above-mentioned vessels. Only they work on the nuclear power plant. These ships are constantly based on two helicopters and a strike guided missile system that can destroy large surface ships.

Also, the classification of ships of the Russian Navy includes missile cruisers. They operate in remote areas of the oceans and seas, and their purpose is to destroy large enemy surface ships, thereby ensuring the PLO and air defense of their ships. The first rank also includes nuclear submarine cruisers capable of hitting large coastal targets at a depth of 400-600 meters at a range of up to 8,250 kilometers.

Boats and ships of the first rank

Discussing such a topic as the classification of naval ships of the 1st rank, one can not fail to mention the large nuclear submarine. It is worthy of attention. There is one name from the boat: it is a large, 2-hull warship. Its displacement is ~ 6000-10000 tons. The ship is equipped with torpedo tubes, an atomic installation, cruise missiles - everything, due to which it is possible to destroy carrier-based strike groups and submarines.

Also, the classification of ships in size includes a large antisubmarine and universal landing craft. Displacement - 6500-9000 and <11,500 tons respectively. The first of these are provided for the tracking and destruction of nuclear submarines, and the latter for the transportation of equipment and troops.

2 rank

The ship of the second rank is a three-year battleship. He has a gyus, which rises on the flagpole at the parking lot. The purpose of ships of the second rank is to carry out military and defensive operations in the far sea zone. And both independently and in the composition of compounds.

Classification of ships of the 2nd rank begins with a watchdog vessel. Its main task is to protect. But, nevertheless, it is a combat multi-purpose ship. And he has weapons (artillery, mine, antisubmarine, missile and air defense). It is designed to protect both the ship itself and the escort. Classification of ships of the second rank includes even missile ships. They are designed to hit on the seas, as well as in the near sea zone, surface enemy equipment.

Another 2 ranks include special purpose submarines (for destroying enemies) and landing ships (transporting military equipment and employees).

Ships of the third rank

They are also called dually, linear, sailing vessels. They do not have gyuss, and the purpose is to conduct actions in the near sea zone. Classification of warships of the third rank begins with small missile ships. They are designed to hit any enemy naval combat equipment in sealed seas. The main armament is the ZRK and the strike missile system.

Also there are small artillery and anti-submarine ships. These are combat surface ships. Artillery carry out fire support for the sea assault, and anti-submarine seek, track down and destroy enemy submarines.

Also, the classification of warships includes so-called minesweepers. These are surface vessels of special purpose. Their task is to find, detect and trawl bottom and sea anchored mines. Other minesweepers carry ships and other ships through mines.

Small amphibious ships also belong to the third rank. These are surface ships that transport personnel and military equipment.

Ships of the fourth rank

These include two-year linear ships, the number of guns ranging from 44 to 60 units. If you touch on such a topic as the classification of warships in size, then it should be noted that the 4 ranks are the smallest vessels. They do not have gyuys, and their displacement is only 100-500 tons. Compare at least with aircraft carriers, in which this figure is 25,000 tons!

And vessels of the fourth rank operate in the coastal sea zone, as well as on raids.

Classification of warships in size is completed by combat and amphibious boats. These are small surface ships. Vessels of the first type of the above are designed to attack the naval equipment of enemies. And the landing boats unload troops and equipment ashore. Another among the ships of the 4th rank is the minesweepers operating in the raids, in the coastal zone and in the waters of the Navy.

Proceeding from all of the above, everyone, not even a dedicated person, will conclude: the Russian navy is not without reason considered one of the most powerful in the world. And this fact can not but rejoice.
