The crown means fidelity, the heart is a symbol of love, and hands are friendship. Most often, the Claddagh ring is made of silver or gold. On this ornament there is engraving: "Love. Fidelity. Friendship". Sometimes this motto is written in the language of the Irish. Newlyweds can give each other Claddagh wedding rings, which for life will be a symbol of their eternal love. According to the ancient tradition, this ornament is passed on to the family in the line of women: from mother to daughter or granddaughter from grandmother.

Ways of wearing Cladd's ring

There are several traditional ways of wearing Claddagh rings. If a person has not yet found his only soul mate, then he wears an ornament on his right hand. And the heart depicted on the ring should be directed away from itself. And if the ring is worn on the same right hand, but the image of the heart is directed towards itself (from the fingertips), then this is a sign that the owner of this decoration already has a loved one. Claddagh rings are called engagement rings if a couple in love puts them on the left hand with a picture of the heart to themselves.

After a while, another method was invented, how to wear this kind of decoration: the ring is put on the left hand, but the image of the symbol of love is directed to the fingertips. So the rings are worn by newlyweds during the wedding celebration. It is believed that symbolically their hearts are drawn to each other.
