Actor Christoffer Joner, according to critics, is considered one of the main contenders for the title of the brightest star of modern cinema in Norway. Suffice it to say that he is the absolute champion of his country in the new century in terms of the number of roles played on a large and television screen. The creative biography of the actor began more than 20 years ago, he is a laureate of many prestigious Norwegian and European cinematographic awards.

early years

Christoffer Joner was born in 1972 in the city of Stavanger in the family of the artist Ole Karlsen and theatrical actress Rogaland Annerut Yoner. When the future star and his younger brother were still very young children, their parents divorced, and the boys remained in the care of their mother.

Since childhood, Christoffer has been surrounded by people who are related to the theater, since one of his uncles - Johannes - was an actor and the other - Sverre Indris - a composer.

Study

Norway is a country where people like theater. It is customary to introduce children to this kind of art from an early age, so there are drama circles everywhere. However, the mother of Christoffer Yoner went further: having decided that the son should continue the family tradition, she sent him to the studio operating at a fairly well-known theater at the age of 14. There he was trained until 1990. Students of the studio staged performances and performed in adult productions in episodic roles. Thus, Christoffer Yoner has already acquired a priceless experience at a fairly young age. However, he could not get a professional education, as all three of his attempts to enter the Norwegian National Theater Academy were unsuccessful.

Carier start

The lack of a diploma did not prevent Yoner from getting his first important role in the popular Offshore show of the Norwegian State Television and Radio Company, which was shown from 1996 to 2000. Thanks to this project, the reputation of the most original young actor of the country was established behind Christoffer. She was strengthened even more thanks to his participation in Paul Yakman's film "Detector", which the audience saw in 2000.

In this film, Christoffer Joner played the role of Satanist Jorgen and coped with this task simply brilliantly. Then he was invited to a low-budget picture "Mongolia", which premiered in 2001. Yoner's game was approved not only by spectators, but also by critics, and for his roles in these films he was nominated twice for the prize of the Norwegian International Film Festival "Amanda" in the nomination "Best Actor".

The year 2002 was fruitful, when Joner took part in several interesting projects, including the film Unni Straume "Music for weddings and funerals."

"The Fallen Sky"

In 2002, Joner played in one of the most successful Norwegian films of the early 2000s. Gunnar Wicken's painting "The Fallen Sky" became a hit of the hire, and for the role of Reidar in this film, the actor received the main prize of the International Festival in Copenhagen - "Golden Swan" - in the nomination "Best Actor".

The picture tells about two patients of a psychiatric clinic who are in contact with healthy people. As it turns out later, these are only very conditional. Reidar feels sympathy for Yuni, but the girl does not tolerate any physical contacts, and she may get hysterical even from trying a simple handshake. She constantly asks the young man to help her commit suicide, but he tries to dissuade her from all this with all her strength. In parallel, in the film "Falling Sky" in front of the audience are several storylines, which, one way or another, are related. At Christmas, random events begin to happen , as if they give all the heroes their due. In the final, Yuni takes Reidar by the hand, and he thinks he helped the world to find harmony with the help of a tennis ball.

Further career

In 2003, Christoffer Joner, whose films were already quite popular in Norway, won the film prize of the Berlin International Film Festival - Shooting Stars, which is presented to young promising actors from the EU countries.

In the same year he took part in the filming of the horror film "The Dark Forest", performing the role of Lasse, and he was nominated for the third time to receive the film award "Amanda" as the best actor.

Then the viewer saw Yoner in the melodrama "Winter Kiss" and in the psychological thriller "Neighborhood".

Participation in the last film, finally, brought the actor an award "Amanda", to which he had previously been nominated 3 times.

In addition, Joner also played in 2 clips of the famous Norwegian rock band "Kaisers Orchestra". In one of them, Joner played the role of a mafia. The work was liked by spectators and specialists, and the clip received the Norwegian analog "Grammy" - the Spellemannprisen award - as the best clip of 2003.

"Comrade Pedersen"

This picture became a prize-winner of the Montreal Festival of World Cinema for the best director's work. In it, Yonera got the main role of teacher Pedersen Gymnasium, who becomes a victim of the propaganda of his own student and joins the Workers' Communist Party of Norway.

He falls in love with comrade Nina Shotey and changes her with her. However, soon the young communist states that extramarital affairs are contrary to the party's charter, and fully devotes herself to the cause of "building a bright future." Despite all the efforts of the Communists, after a while the popularity of their movement in Norway is experiencing a sharp decline. Despite this, Pedersen continues to remain faithful to the party, or rather Nina. However, the woman, realizing that all her victims were in vain, commits suicide.

Creative achievements of recent years

After the release of the picture "Comrade Pedersen", Joner played in the films "Hidden", "Last jamb" and others. In 2005, at the International Film Festival in Bergen, Joner was awarded the "Best Actor of the Century" award at the International Film Festival in Bergen, although the same title The professional jury awarded Bjorn Sundqvist.

In 2008, Christoffer Joner debuted as a director, taking off the short film "In a cool dry place." The experience turned out to be successful, and the film received the "Best Short Film" award from the jury of the European Sci-Fi Film Festival in Strasbourg.
