The series "The Black Mirror": actors and roles

After the collapse of the USSR, numerous Brazilian video products poured into our screens, from whose light hands we began to refer to serials as "soap". This kind of cinematography began to be perceived as something a priori second-rate, not having a semantic load and intended for housewives. However, the creators of the series "The Black Mirror" raised this genre to a fundamentally new level.

An anti-utopia or a reflection of reality?

The term "black mirror" began to be called electronic devices: smartphones, tablets, computers because of the specific type of displays. But there is another side to this phrase. Black mirrors used witches in their rituals. These surfaces were not just to reflect what is happening, but to absorb thoughts, emotions, even the soul of a person! Can not you say this about modern gadgets? Look back: millions of people live not so much in reality as on the Internet, and the screen really turned into that "black mirror" that absorbs us. This is what the stories from the eponymous series tell us about this. Someone considers this project as an anti-utopia, but take a closer look: do not we see in this fantastic reality the obvious features of our daily life?

Brief and talented

The series "The Black Mirror" is an anthology, that is, each series tells its story, revealing different aspects of the influence of gadgets on our life and, most importantly, on our consciousness. Many viewers easily recognize themselves in the hero or someone from their environment. To date, only three seasons have been filmed, each with 3 parts, plus a bonus - one story claiming a full-fledged film.

Film critics could not fail to note one feature of the series "The Black Mirror": the actors are not repeated here. In each story, we see a new, unique hero. At the same time, the "Black Mirror" is a series, the actors in which are not loud celebrities (mostly), so the viewer has no prejudiced attitude, and it is impossible even to guess who is "good" and who is "bad" and how the story ends . And the outcome of each episode is simply amazing! Thus, the series "The Black Mirror", the actors and roles in which are selected exceptionally successfully, completely immerses the viewer into what is happening.

Pigs, fame and memory

In the first season of the series "Black Mirror" the actors starred as follows: Rory Kinner and Lindsay Duncan in the first episode, Daniel Kaluy and Jessica Findlay in the second and Tobbi Kebbel with Jodi Witaki in the third.

The first series - "National Anthem" - is based on real history. More precisely, in the scandal around the adventures of one politician. At first, it seems that this episode is simply a satire on a real person, but as the plot develops the authors lead us to another question: how easy it is to get our attention! Maybe in real life we also do not pay attention to what is happening under our eyes, completely absorbed by the black mirror of the screen?

In the second episode of the series "The Black Mirror" actors show a completely utopian, seemingly life, where everything depends on electronics, and it seems that people here are needed only to support this industry. The hero of Daniel Kaluy at some point decides that he is enough, and throws all his strength to express his protest against this artificial system. But will there be enough fuse to go to the end, and most importantly - do you need his struggle?

The third episode - "All About You" - tells how people could live if their memory was like a computer flash drive. That's really really a "black mirror"! Actors of the 1st season of the third series, Tobby Kebbel and Jody Witaki, can not just remember what happened to them, but also bring this picture to the screen to show everyone around! The camera is no longer needed, you can just bare your soul on the mirror of the screen. That's just show you have everything, even what it would be better to hide.

Widely closed eyes

In the second season of the series "Black Mirror" actors are slightly more famous. In the first episode, Haley Atwell and Donal Gleason play a young couple with a sad story: after the death of her husband's wife, unable to stand the separation ... No, she did not commit suicide, she simply bought herself a copy of her beloved! So far, computers can not replace a person, but what if ...

The second episode is really "for the best of the day". Lenora Crichlow, Michael Smiley and Tuppence Middleton disclose the enormity of the situation, when others, seeing a crime or an accident, grab for phones, but not to call for help, but to take a hot video. You say, dystopia? But there are already a lot of such cases even in the news. And it is not known who is worse: the one who commits a crime, or the one who is indifferent watching this.

The third episode - "The Moment for Waldo" - recalls how unreliable the avatars are, behind which we hide on the Internet. The hero of Daniel Rigby became famous throughout the world with the help of the virtual character Waldo created by him, but he did not take into account one thing: the world needs this "toon," computer avatar, and nobody cares for the person behind it.

Social networks tighten

The last episode of this unusual project is "White Christmas". The actors who shot in this part of the series "The Black Mirror" (seasonally, they are a "bonus") showed the most impressive and comprehensive picture of today's reality. John Hamm, Ralph Spall, Una Chaplin and Natalia Tena peculiarly portrayed people who can not live without social networks. They became the center of the universe for many: our daily routine and preferences, our relationships and desires, everything that we breathe can be seen on personal pages. It's worth removing the person from the list of friends - and he seems to be deprived of access to your life. And what if it is possible and in reality: to press a button and to block for someone the opportunity even to see you? What is it like to be on the "black list"?

What to expect

So, the series "The Black Mirror" is one of the most high-quality, interesting and shocking projects, which subtly, but very much reflects all the dangers associated with uncontrolled enthusiasm for modern technologies. So far, only these 7 episodes have been shot, but the producer of the project Charlie Brucker promises that the shooting will continue, and in autumn 2016 we will see the next series. But even the already existing seasons give a very tasty food for thought and emotion.
