Child benefit up to 16 years

In accordance with the current law, one of the parents living in the Russian Federation has the right to receive a state monthly allowance for each child under 16 years of age. In cases that are stipulated by international agreements, citizens under the age of 16 are also entitled to benefits up to the age of 16, but they must either undergo military service under contract or be civilian personnel of military formations.

Parents, guardians, trustees and even foreign stateless persons have the right to receive child allowance for each child, that is, refugees if they live in Russia. If the child has reached 16 years of age, but continues to study at a general education institution, the period for receiving benefits is extended to 18 years, but not more.

But if the children of the citizens of the Russian Federation are on state support or their parents are deprived of the right to raise their child, then they are not paid child allowance before the age of 16. Deprived of this right and parents who have left permanently to live abroad.

Of course, the amount of state payments for children is differentiated, it depends on the number of children in the family.

Although every citizen of Russia has the right to receive state benefits for children, but not everyone can take advantage of this right. Families with an average per capita income higher than the subsistence minimum, according to Russian legislation, do not receive such a child allowance before the age of 16. Applying to the OSZN at the place of residence with the application and indicating the income information for the last 3 months, you can find out the per capita income of the family. This amount is determined as follows: the total amount of family income is divided by three months and by the number of family members.

Parents who are entitled to child allowance under 16 years, together with the application must bring:

- a copy of the birth certificate of each child;

- A certificate stating that the child and parents live together;

- certificate from the place of study of the child, if he turned 16 years old;

- Passports of parents and children over 16 years of age;

- an extract about the last place of work from the labor books of parents.

Please note that no income statement is required.

If you are concerned about benefits for a child under guardianship, then you should additionally submit:

- an extract from the decision to establish custody or guardianship over the child ;

- A certificate from the education authorities that you do not receive any cash payments for the content of this child.

In addition, you need to call the number of the personal account opened in the Sberbank office, where the monthly allowance will be transferred to 16 years.

A separate category of citizens of the Russian Federation receives an increased amount of benefits. These include:

- single mothers. They increase the benefit by 100%;

- Wives whose husbands are serving on call. They benefit by 50%. The increased allowance for a child of a serviceman is paid independently, whether the marriage is registered between the parents or whether they are divorced or not at all. It is enough that the serviceman recognizes the child and confirms it documentarily;

- children whose parents or one of them pays alimony or in other cases that are prescribed by law. This benefit increases by 50%, and the basis for this is the court's decision to recover from the parents or one of them alimony.

For social support of families of minors in various regions of the Russian Federation, allowances for children up to the age of 16 can be increased by additional targeted assistance. For example, the government of Moscow pays an additional child allowance for up to 16 years to families with many children who have three or more children, single mothers, children of military servicemen who serve on conscription, families where both parents are disabled and have a child under the age of one and a half.
