Cemetery in Tyumen: history, description and interesting facts

The Tekutyevo cemetery belongs to the monuments of antiquity. The memorial complex is located in Leninsky district of Tyumen on the main street of the Republic. If you rely on historical data, then the cemetery began functioning in the late XIX century.

opening date

When did the Tokhtievskoye cemetery (Tyumen) start functioning? History shows that it was discovered by the decision of the City Duma of Tyumen on July 30, 1885 on the lands where the peasants of the village of Bukino lived.

The modern name of the cemetery is connected with the fact that the nearby five-story building of the flour milling steam mill of the merchant AI I.Tektyev was built in 1893.

What territory does the necropolis occupy?

Originally, the area of the churchyard was 10 hectares. But already in 1913 the leased peasant community of the village of Bukino, for the needs of the necropolis, was overcrowded. It took two years to negotiate with the peasants about the increase in the spoils of the cemetery. As a result, the plot was 18 hectares.

For several decades, new buildings contributed to the reduction of the burial site. Tekutyevskoe cemetery has decreased by half. A considerable part of the necropolis in the 80 years of the last century took under its building the House of Culture "Geologist". Now there is a Tyumen Technopark.

The enlarged street of the Republic also changed the face of the cemetery. Despite the fact that it has historical significance, many graves are in oblivion, and the monuments are greatly destroyed or completely disappeared.

Burial places of the Great Patriotic War

During the Great Patriotic War, the Tokhtievskoye cemetery in Tyumen became the last refuge for servicemen who died from their wounds in the hospitals of the city. They were buried on the southern outskirts of the necropolis.

In 1955 they were reburied into a common grave, on which a monument of marble by architect VA Beskiltsev was erected. In 1968 it was reconstructed by the sculptor V. Belov.

Changes in the Tecityevsky cemetery that occurred over the past decades

In 2004, the Tecityevsky boulevard was rediscovered. Now he has got a good look. But the pavement itself was laid down for burial. A large number of ancient cemetery crosses were crushed by bulldozers. There were also graves behind the fence of the park, but only two remained after reconstruction.

Mysterious moat near the cemetery

The Tytutyevoye cemetery (Tyumen) in the southern part contains a moat, the origin of which is not fixed. Various versions are expressed regarding him. According to one of them, approximately 700 German prisoners of war were massacred here. According to another version, the ditch is nothing but a branch from a mill belonging to industrialist Tekutyev.

Famous people buried at the cemetery

Tekutyevskoe cemetery became the burial place of many famous personalities.

Nikolai Dmitrievich Masharov, who was the founder of the shipbuilding plant in Tyumen (now it is a machine-tool plant). The industrialist began with a small workshop built in a dug-out. Subsequently, it developed into a huge enterprise, known as the "Association of Mashars and Co.". The factory produced dishes, accessories for the furnace and the farm, and large orders were received from other factories and factories. The production of products for the shipping company was also established.

The case of Nikolai Dmitrievich made a tremendous contribution to the foundry industry of Tyumen. According to some reports, the factory owner was shot by Red Army soldiers in Sverdlovsk in 1922. The brother of the founder of the iron foundry, Yakov Masharov, is also here. His monument remained well. Here is buried the ashes of his father Dmitry Epifanovich Masharov. On the base of the marble wall there is an inscription "Peace be with you, dear parents and brother".

Also in the cemetery are buried representatives of a certain kind of merchants and patrons of the Averkievs. There are graves here and other representatives of the merchant class: Vasily Burkov, Peter Vorobeichikov, Peter Gilev, Vasily Golomidov.

Pyotr Matyagin, the head of Tyumen, will rest in the cemetery. He died at the end of the XIX century.

The participant of the armed October insurrection in Moscow, the first commander of the Red Guard of Tyumen, Vyacheslav Zlobin, was buried.

There is the grave of the Honored Doctor of the RSFSR Alexandra Krutkina.

Vladimir Yakovlevich Kuibyshev, who was a Tyumen military leader. He was buried in the necropolis before the revolution. It is the father of the Soviet party leader Valery Kuibyshev. Vladimir Kuibyshev belonged to a hereditary noble family, was a participant in the Russo-Japanese War, rose to the rank of lieutenant-colonel and military commander of Tyumen. The younger son of Kuibyshev Valerian was Stalin's closest companion. He was buried near the Kremlin wall. The fate of the eldest son of Nikolai Kuibyshev was tragic. Three-time chevalier of the Order of the Red Banner, commander of the troops of the Zakvon, in 1938 he was shot.

Not far from the central entrance to the necropolis is the grave of the pioneer of the Plekhanovsky Airport Eduard Luhta. At the same time, airlines were opened to connect Tyumen with Tobolsk, Khanty-Mansiysk, Berezov and Salekhard. Thanks to this man began to operate postal aircraft, as well as aircraft for the transport of medicines, building materials and products. Tyumen pilots served expeditions of geologists and seismologists. Luht also organized a planned repair of U-2 aircraft, erected bridges for launching hydroplanes. His great merit is the foundation of the Plekhanovsky, Surgut and Berezovsky airports.

Danger when visiting the cemetery

It is not safe to visit Tytoyevskoye cemetery (Tyumen). The reason is that old trees, whose roots have long rotted away, can collapse at any moment on a passing person. The fact that this is not a fiction and not excessive warnings is evidenced by a number of fences and monuments that bear traces of such incidents.

According to Evgeni Kvashnin, deputy director of the necropolis, the grave of the merchant family of Averkievs was recently restored by the heiress, and after a while a large tree fell near it. Kvashnin considers fortunate that the monuments were not damaged.

It is established that 150 trees are carrying danger. They were planted over a hundred years ago. After the inventory, they were marked with red crosses. Dry branches break off every day. When the wind rises, all work stops at the cemetery. The intention to cut trees was not supported by representatives of the Green Party.

Interesting suggestions for the reconstruction of the cemetery

In 2009, the territory of the cemetery was cleared. They removed dry overgrown trees and weeds. As a result, about seven tons of garbage was taken from the graveyard.

After clearing, the paths that have been preserved were designated. About 6,000 graves were found, most of which are unknown. All burials were mapped.

The chairman of the Union of Architects of Tyumen, Ilfat Minulin, proposed to install unknown signs on stone burials, and to restore the monuments as soon as possible. Graves, for which care, was not supposed to be touched.

Despite the fact that the cemetery is isolated, there are paths along which people go daily. On the basis of this, a proposal was made to allow a limited number of groups to enter the necropolis, to schedule a work schedule and close the cemetery at certain times.

Thus, the Tytutyevoye cemetery, history Which has many years, Could acquire the appearance of a park in which there would be a central alley serving as a landmark in the locality, as well as places for resting visitors with asphalt paths, storm sewers and lighting.

The proposal to install several gates from residents of Tyumen did not find a response. In their opinion, the cemetery is not a territory for walks or a way of reducing the way to work.

Citizens supported the idea of constructing a water pipe, which would facilitate the care of flowers on graves, and also allowed to create mounds of sand and gravel.

One of the leading issues, according to the inhabitants of Tyumen, is the introduction of protection of the cemetery territory, as vandalism is often noted.

The issue of decorating the tombstones in the same style was also considered, but the implementation of such a project involves some complexity. The fact is that in the necropolis besides burial places of Christians there are graves of Muslims and Jews.

A proposal was made to liquidate those burials that no one cares about, as well as the setting of certain rules, according to which the townspeople will be obliged to watch the graves. It was also said that in the necropolis should continue burial of people who have merit in front of the city. This idea was introduced by one of the residents of Tyumen. She received support from many.

A proposal was made that was original. Director of the NEC "Necropolis" Alexander Seitkov spoke about the construction of columbarium in the necropolis. If a crematorium once functions in Tyumen, well-known people can be buried in the niches of such a wall.

As the head of the administration of Tyumen Vasily Panov noted, these hearings on the cemetery are not the last. All proposals should be considered and taken into account in subsequent meetings. Many projects remained only in words, as money for their incarnation was never found.

It should be recalled that the Tekutyevo cemetery was closed in April 1962.
