CBS (method): communicative and organizational propensities

In modern society, psychology takes an increasingly stable position and popularity. Determining the life path, placement and selection of personnel in the enterprise is often associated with the definition of the propensities of man, including organizational and communicative. To determine whether the respondent has developed such abilities, the CBS technique, or the diagnostic method, helps specialists.

Projective method - questionnaire

The area in which this psychodiagnostic technique is successfully used is vocational guidance, or the definition of a respondent's inclination to any sphere of professional activity. CBS is a methodology related to the category of projective methods, the feature of which is that the subject projects his own experience on the situation offered by the researcher. That is why the technique is recommended for diagnostic examination of people who have reached the senior school age and older, since respondents should have a certain life experience and a model of behavior in certain life situations.

Principle of operation of the diagnostic method

The CBS-1 methodology was developed on the basis of the diversity of life situations offered to the respondent. This will help the subject to try on himself various simulated situations from life and determine his own real model of behavior in them. Experts consider the level of validity, or reliability, of the data obtained to be sufficiently high, which allows obtaining stable indicators of communicative and organizational abilities. In addition, the methodology was developed taking into account the wide range of proposed issues, taking into account the different attitude of the respondents to what is said in the questions of methodology. This method is considered quite valuable also because it allows us to separately track the level of development of human communicability, in parallel - the level of the ability to organize a collective. In some cases, respondents show a fairly developed communicative level with a low level of development of organizational skills . There are also respondents, the result of diagnosis is the opposite. All these possibilities are sufficiently taken into account in CBS. The method of "Communicative and organizational inclinations" is considered one of the basic methods in the vocational orientation block, and therefore it is one of the first.

Vocational guidance in the CBS method

The professional sphere of human activity is divided into branches on several grounds. One of them is a sign of an active interaction of a specialist with people, a level of ability to organize a collective. The leading content of the activity of specialists in this field is the leadership of a team of people, diverse in terms of quantity and quality, teaching, educating, enlightening and social services for people. To professions that require a certain level of formation of such qualities, include the specialty of the teacher, doctor, heads of departments, departments. The success of production activities of representatives of such professions is ensured by a sufficient level of communicability and organizational inclinations, the ability to contact people, to organize constructively their interaction to achieve the set production goals. The CBS-2 methodology will allow a person to understand if he has the abilities necessary to build a successful career in a certain field of activity related to the professional field "man-man". After all, it is in communication and joint activities with people that communication and organizational skills are needed.

The principle of constructing a communicative component of the methodology

Many modern techniques allow us to identify several aspects and characteristics of the subjects at once. One of these is the CBS methodology. Communicative and organizational abilities of the respondent are monitored in parallel, which allows you to get two results simultaneously: the level of communication skills and the level of ability to organize the team. The research program includes two dozen issues of the following focus:

- Does the person show a desire to communicate, establish friendly contacts;

- Does loneliness prefer spending time with friends?

- whether it adapts quickly to an unfamiliar society;

- eagerly responds to requests, wishes of others;

- Does it apply positively to public activities, to public speeches;

- Is he comfortable with a circle of unfamiliar and unfamiliar people?

- Is it easy to give speeches before a public audience.

The questions themselves are developed taking into account the real behavior and experience of the respondent.

The principle of constructing the organizer part of the questionnaire

For its part, the program for constructing a study of organizational inclinations includes a slightly different focus of questions. CBS is a technique that allows us to characterize the organizational skills of a person, therefore the questions of this direction have the following content:

- speed and ability to navigate in non-standard situations;

- resourcefulness, persistence and exactingness;

- propensity to organize;

- independence in judgments and actions, self-criticism;

- aging;

- Attitudes towards social activities, sociability.

The questionnaire also includes two dozen organizational issues, which makes it sufficiently informative for this area of research.

Wide possibilities of popular technique

Recently, the use of the method has become quite popular not only in the vocational orientation field. Wide application possibilities for the correct placement of personnel and the formation of effective production subgroups also demonstrated the diagnostic method of CBS. The methodology was actively applied by specialists of the personnel service and staff psychologists of enterprises for a constructive placement of personnel in order to prevent industrial conflicts and increase the level of labor productivity. To this end, the CBS method was modified to a higher category of respondents, while maintaining the principle of operation and the number of questions in the questionnaire. The questions themselves carry the same semantic orientation with a slightly different textual formulation. Specialists point to another method with a similar name, "Spit Cubes." This method does not have an identical orientation, it helps to determine the level of formation of the respondent's spatial thinking. The modified method is called COS-2, along with COS-1 it has been actively disseminated and used in manufacturing and student research.

Methodology for students and employees of organizations

When developing student and production teams and groups, the diagnostic method KOS-2 is widely used. The method of "communicative and organizational inclinations" for the senior category of respondents differs from CBS-1 with the formulation of questions with an identical focus of subjects. Interpretation of the results of the conducted research is carried out in the same way in both methods. The figures obtained during processing are in the same numerical range. The points scored by the respondents are divided into five levels in a cut from "very low" to "high", which helps to objectively assess the degree of communication and organization of a person.

The received indicators at a low level

After processing the data, the result can be from 0.2 to 1.0 for both criteria. Points are compared with an estimate from 1 to 5, while the classifier will help to understand and determine the qualitative characteristics of the indicators. Respondents rated "1" and, accordingly, "low level", are extremely unsatisfactory degree of manifestation of communicative and organizational abilities. Such people are effective in individual activities, but in a team you should not bet on such employees when carrying out a joint group assignment. Subjects who have defined a level of "below average" and a score of "2", as a rule, have little initiative, reluctant to enter into contacts, are difficult to navigate in an unusual situation, do not have sufficient speed of thinking when making decisions. Those who have defined an "average" level and a score of "3" have a stable potential for communication and the ability to organize a group. Such people, as a rule, are quite sociable, seek to establish contacts, but they can quickly lose interest in joint activities, in solving production and social tasks. The existing potential of such people should be purposefully developed, increasing the motivation to work in the group. In the classifier of the projective questionnaire "Methodology of CBS", Podmazin also introduced a characterological description of communicative and organizational inclinations of respondents who have a "high" level.

Interpretation of high-level indicators

The "high" level of subjects who received a score of "4" speaks about the ability of a person to work effectively in a team, to properly organize the cooperation of team members among themselves, and to have sufficient initiative in making decisions. "Very high" level of respondents with a score of "5" speaks about the leader's qualities of the subject, his desire and the desire to establish contacts, including production ones. These people perfectly cope with the solution of production problems, willingly take the initiative in non-standard situations. Specialists at the same time caution that with sufficient validity and reliability of the results obtained, the degree of situationality of the CBS method should be taken into account. The procedure shows a reliable result at the time of the study. In orderly work with a person to develop communicative and organizational skills, the result can significantly change.
