Caution, acute sinusitis!

Practically for any illness, a timely and professional approach helps to cure the disease. Not an exception and acute sinusitis, whose treatment can be greatly simplified by contacting a highly qualified specialist in time. This common disease, in spite of the fact that its clinical manifestations can be quite easy, is rather insidious, since it has serious consequences and easily grows into a chronic form, and this already creates health problems for many years.

Acute sinusitis appears against a background of acute, chronic rhinitis or ARVI due to swelling of the nasal mucosa. In medical practice, quite often there were cases when this ailment appeared due to dental caries. Moreover: in some people, the cause of sinusitis may be features of the anatomical structure of the nasal passages. The situation can deteriorate sharply if the body of a sick person is additionally affected by a fungal infection, there is an allergy or curvature of the nasal septum.

How can we recognize the first symptoms of this disease? So, acute sinusitis can be suspected when a person has the following clinical symptoms.

  1. A severe runny nose, which is accompanied by secretions of yellow, green or transparent color. If it does not pass for 7-8 days, then there are serious reasons to see a doctor.
  2. The obstruction of the nasal passages on both sides or only on one side, which does not pass through the same period.
  3. A sharp increase in temperature (as a rule, up to 38 °).
  4. Heaviness in the nose or around the nasal passages, which can even turn into a severe headache, especially after sleep.
  5. Acute sensitivity of many facial areas.
  6. General malaise, sleep and appetite disturbance.

To cure sinusitis, the signs of which are quite similar to other diseases, it is necessary first of all to consult an otolaryngologist, since only an experienced specialist can correctly diagnose the disease and prescribe an effective individual treatment. Self-diagnosis and self-medication for the patient is only a waste of time. This approach will certainly lead to the fact that acute sinusitis will pass into a chronic form.

Treatment of sinusitis should be a combination of systemic and local therapy. Also, a patient with acute sinusitis should perform procedures to improve the drainage of the nasal sinuses. If the disease is in an easy or medium stage, then treatment can be carried out in an outpatient regime under the supervision of an otolaryngologist. In neglected forms, urgent hospitalization and intensive medication therapy are already necessary.

Many people believe that sinusitis is such an ailment that it is not necessary to treat, and they think that it will pass by itself. But such a dismissive attitude can result not only in therapy with the use of strong antibiotics, but also with further constant correction of problems with the patency of the nasal sinuses, as well as deterioration of vision. So do not joke with your health and do not self-medicate.
