Candidiasis balanitis - diagnosis and treatment of the disease.

Candidiasis balanitis, as well as balanoposthitis, are rather rare than common diseases. The reason for their low prevalence is that Candida fungus, which causes these diseases, practically does not survive on the healthy surface of the skin of the male genital organs.

Symptoms of balanitis

Balanitis is an inflammatory process that affects the tissues of the head or penis of a man. Balanitis in women is characterized by inflammation of the clitoris and large labia. If you have been infected with balanitis for several days, you can observe symptoms such as:

- phimosis;

- the appearance of itching and unpleasant odor in the genital area;

Painful urination;

- inflammation of the glans penis, manifested by reddening, the presence of painful sensations and the appearance under the foreskin of small, rough-to-feel seals.

In women, the signs of balanitis are swelling and inflammation of the clitoris.

Practically in the vast majority of cases, candidal balanitis is combined in men even with inflammation of the glans penis. This inflammation is called balanoposthitis and has both chronic and acute course.

Varieties of balanitis

Candida balanitis differs not only in origin (primary or secondary), but also in its clinical manifestation. The disease has five main forms of percolation:

- erosive;

- obliterating;

- simple or irritive;

- Ulcerative;

- chronic hypertrophic.

The causes of balanitis

Most candida balanitis appears due to non-compliance with personal hygiene rules. However, this is not the only reason that provokes the onset of this disease. Sometimes balanitis is a consequence of more serious diseases, such as diabetes mellitus. Very often, candidal balanitis becomes the first harbinger of a hidden diabetes. Sometimes this disease is a reaction to the autoimmune diseases occurring in the body : psoriasis, lupus, scleroderma.

To provoke such a disease as candida balanitis, there may be a decrease in general or local immunity, as well as previous sexually transmitted infections.

Balanitis in children is most often a consequence of phimosis. Particles that accumulate in the prepuce sack and the remains of urine can provoke not only the development of balanitis, but also balanoposthitis.

Diagnosis and treatment of balanitis

Diagnosis of Candida balanitis does not cause any difficulties. This disease is easily determined by external examination of the genitals and is confirmed by clinical analyzes that are carried out to establish the pathogen that caused the inflammation.

In the treatment of balanitis, not burdened by the presence of purulent inflammation, it is usually sufficient to use anti-inflammatory and antiseptic agents of local action. In addition to the use of medications, the patient is assigned enhanced personal hygiene, including washing the glans penis every 3-4 hours. Washing can be carried out either using soap or a weak antiseptic solution.

Treatment of obliterating balanitis, as well as balanitis in erosive form, requires a longer and more thorough approach. Therefore, diagnosing and conducting a course of treatment is best in the early stages of the disease. Untimely treated balanitis can not only go to a chronic stage, but also lead to a narrowing of the urethra, and then without surgical intervention can not do.

If you are concerned about itching or inflammation in the genital area, painful urination and the appearance of a white plaque on the genitals, you should consult a doctor. Do not engage in self-medication or hope that the above symptoms will disappear on their own. The earlier a specialist will diagnose and prescribe treatment with the help of the necessary drugs, the more successful and fast the process of recovery will be.
