Novosibirsk and its inhabitants received a new theater on October 1, 1933. In response to the directive from the capital on the creation of creative teams in Novosibirsk, a collective farm and state farm mobile theater is being created. However, this theater had no independence and worked as a branch of an even older theater in Novosibirsk - the "Red Torch". At first, the troupe was small - only 15 people, young people from amateur performances and the troupe of the "Red Torch". The beginning of the Great Patriotic War forced the artists even more to travel, but not only in their native region. The Novosibirsk theater went to the front almost full-time, where it gave concerts and performances for the soldiers. In 42, the theater becomes the Novosibirsk Regional Drama Theater, and in 67 it receives a separate building, in which it is still located.

In the difficult for the theatrical environment in 1991 the collective receives a new name - the theater "Old House". Novosibirsk and its inhabitants could look at his stage and classics, and plays by contemporary authors.

Theater today

In 2008 the theater was included in the list of Novosibirsk region record-holders, as the most touring troupe. In 2003, the theater experienced a global restoration. In addition to general repairs, technical equipment has also changed. New lighting and sound equipment appeared on the stage, as well as new armchairs and air conditioning in the auditorium, comfortable armchairs for the performance waiting in the lobby, an electronic scoreboard for selecting seats and acquaintance with the repertoire, as well as a theatrical poster. Novosibirsk still has only a few theaters with similar equipment.

Quite recently there were personnel changes in the theater - a young, brave and bright Galina Pianova came to the place of the main director. She is not only an actress and director, she is the founder of the cultural shock theater "Artishok". This is a unique blending of genres and styles of experimental and independent theaters and art projects. As a director she staged the following performances in the theater: "Hunted horses are being shot, are not they?", "Letov", "Snow Maiden. Laboratory "and others.

They put on stage the theater and invited directors, for example, Sergei Fedotov from Perm gave the Novosibirskians two performances on the works of Martin McDonagh. Semyon Aleksandrovsky from St. Petersburg puts the play on a specially written play commissioned by the local Academgorodok about him. There are works of foreign colleagues in the repertoire. Thus, under the direction of the Italian director Antonio Latella, many hours of performance based on works by Ibsen and Euripides were staged.
