One of the cinematic masterpieces of 2013, the film "Best Offer" - an international creation. Italian director Giuseppe Tornatore on the main roles in the film invited Australian Jeffrey Rush, the Dutch actress and fashion model Sylvia Hooks and British Jim Sturgess. Filming took place not only in the cities of Italy, but also in Vienna and Prague. Anglophone sources define the genre of the tape as a romantic detective, Russian film critics tend to call the drama picture. What, in fact, is the film "The Best Offer"? Reviews of the audience about him fluctuate from the assessment of "full nudyatin" to the delighted words "gorgeous, stunning, exciting, great."

Plot

The film tells us the story of love and deceit that occurred in the world of elite auctions of works of art and antiques. The plot revolves around Virgil Oldman - an elderly and respected, but slightly eccentric director of one of the auction houses. He performs an assessment of the property left after the death of a young client's parents named Claire. The girl suffers from agoraphobia, fear of open spaces and congestion of people, and never leaves the room in her mansion. The clever young mechanic Robert helps Oldman not only to put together the strange mechanical wheels and gears found in Claire's house, but also to establish relations with her. A lonely auctioneer lives a double life: with the help of his friend, he regularly turns frauds, buying at auctions like pictures with pictures of beautiful women. The hero of Jeffrey Rush is really attached to a young client, but he is destined to survive a real life crash ...

"Best offer": negative reviews

In fact, there are not many such. What do not like the authors of critical reviews? Lack of dynamism, some tightness. Of course, the picture is difficult to define with the word "action". There are many events happening, some of them mysterious and exciting, but in general the rhythm of the life of an elderly provided person is similar to the rhythm of the chanting number of the dwarf in the film (one of the intriguing images of the picture). What has not yet impressed the audience with the "Best Offer"? Comments of dissatisfied spectators note the predictability of the plot, inconsistencies and the lack of logic in the implementation of fraud and unreasonable behavior of the protagonist. Perhaps, everything. If we consider that the number of negative responses is approximately 10-20 times less than the number of enthusiastic ones, then we can assume that the picture was a success. Moreover, a number of critically acclaimed spectators note the excellent actors' play and the magnificent music of Ennio Morricone (whom Tornatore invites in almost every film).

"Best offer": positive reviews

Among the eulogies for the picture are those that focus more on the psychological impact of the tape. Some spectators note that the film is full of tragedy, it makes you think, cry and suffer together with Virgil Oldman. Others believe that, on the contrary, the main character can be rejoiced: he finally broke out from the world of fakes into the world of genuine feelings, found the courage to leave the created comfortable space for the sake of real people and events, got his "best offer".

Reviews of these movie fans first of all see in the picture is not a story about everyday history, not a detective or a thriller, but a work of art with a capital letter, an event in the cinematographic world. They note a virtuoso plot, woven from separate scenes, dialogues, text and subtext. The tape differs in depth, full of puzzles and puzzles that open sometimes only after repeated views. The overwhelming majority of spectators note the amazing actor's work of Geoffrey Rush. But, perhaps, the success of the tape was determined by the whole ensemble of actors. For a little-known outside the Netherlands, Sylvia Hooks is now sure to start a new life. The image of the brilliant and charming engineer, created by Jim Sturgess , is also magnificent . To match them and actors of the second plan. There is not a single false note in their game. That is why the most frequently met feature of the film is "fascinating". The sense of authenticity is maintained and beautiful scenery. In the picture, several dozen real works of art of the highest standard were used.

You have to look at the picture - at least in order to make your own opinion about it. "The best offer" (2013), reviews of critics and ordinary viewers in this case coincide, - this is not a passing film, this event, a phenomenon in the art world. It may or may not please you, but it is unlikely to leave you indifferent.
