Begonia, care and reproduction at home

There are a lot of varieties of begonia. The family of this species has about 400 different species. Among them, in the special subgroups, one can distinguish blooming and deciduously deciduous plants.

Begonia is a beautiful evergreen plant. The leaves of the flower have a diverse bizarre coloration from silvery white to red, and sometimes almost black. The bushy representatives of the begonia family all year round pleasing the eye with their painted dense foliage. Speaking of finicky plants, it should be noted that there are quite a few varieties of flowers as unpretentious as begonia. Care and reproduction of this plant will not take away from you a huge number of forces.

Begonia - species and species

Begonias can be of the form of a shrub, a herbaceous plant or half-shrub. However, the most common are hybrid varieties of begonia. At home, the most commonly cultivated varieties of this species are grown, which, in turn, are divided into two subspecies: evergreen plants and begonias, whose foliage dies.

The first category of plants keeps its beauty all year round, updating the fluffy "hair" gradually, without prejudice to its external appearance. However, the flowers of such begonias are smaller and less inexpressive in comparison with inflorescences of other varieties.

The second category of decorative flowering begonias periodically after each development cycle completely discards the foliage or falls into a state of rest. Bush-like begonias after hibernation again accelerate their growth processes and please the renewed foliage, but tuberous plants need to be transplanted and re-grown.

Begonia - care and reproduction of plants

To the flower always pleased you with a beautiful appearance, it is necessary to choose the right place where begonia grows. Care and reproduction depends largely on the variety to which the plant belongs.

Virtually absolutely all representatives of the begonia race are very fond of bright, saturated lighting. However, in the direct sunlight, the tender leaves of this plant can get burned. Therefore begonias need a little shade to avoid direct sun exposure. Ornamentally deciduous species of begonias need less daylight, so they grow well in moderately lit areas.

In the summer, begonia requires a rather intense saturated irrigation regime, which is significantly reduced with the onset of autumn. However, you need to be careful and not pour the plant. Begonias do not like this very much, as does the moisture on the leaves. Virtually all varieties of this flower when sprinkled or dropped drops of water on the leaf plate are covered with ugly brown spots.

In order for begonia to blossom with beautiful bright colors, it should be periodically fertilized. Do this 1-2 times a month, using specialized compounds for this purpose. Additives containing nitrogenous components are excellent for decorative deciduous plants, whereas flowering begonia are strongly contraindicated, since they inhibit the flowering processes.

If you have purchased this plant, then you must provide the desired flower period of rest, as required by begonia. Care and reproduction of a flower under certain conditions will not be problematic either. Depending on the variety, begonias reproduce by leaf or stem cuttings, seeds, leaf division or reproduction of rhizomes.

Large bushy specimens having a good root system are excavated, carefully divided into the required number of bushes and transplanted into separate pots.

When reproducing leaf or stem cuttings, the flower branches are lightly sprinkled with crushed charcoal and planted in soil, which is periodically watered abundantly. Plant accustomed to about a month if the correct temperature regime and the presence of good light.

By dividing the rhizome, mainly deciduously deciduous plants reproduce. In the spring, planting begonias, the rhizomes are cut with a sharp knife, leaving at least one kidney in each area, pouring with crushed coal and planting them in pots with soil. With the correct irrigation within a month the plant begins to grow actively.
