Beetle-bugger, fascinating life

Beetle-barker - the name of the insect was due to his addiction to manure. The insect feeds on manure, which is usually located far from its dwelling. The family of the same name includes 4 species of beetles, namely lamelliformes, aphids, geotrups, or real dung beetles, as well as scarabs.

The beetles produce their work during the day, so scientists have always wondered how they manage to overcome such a long path under the scorching sun, which the beetle-bug overcomes. White day in the desert, heat, sand heats up to 60 degrees, and the beetle does not suffer overheating. How does this happen? The answer is simple: the advantage of such beetles is that they are constantly in motion and still carry "air conditioners" with them. When the temperature of his body rises and becomes critical, the bug manages to get out on his ball with manure and there literally for 10 seconds it cools down by 7 degrees.

The male and female of these beetles live together and live in harmony, they always help each other, even in such a difficult situation as laying eggs, insects work together. The construction of the nests of these creatures is considered one of the most crucial processes, because every future beetle must live in isolation. The larvae of the beetles live separately from each other, and each has its own food in its cell. The larvae also feed on manure. And over time, they will also become miners.

Despite the appearance, these beetles perfectly fly in search of food. Food to discover them is not difficult, because they have an excellent sense of smell. Once the food is found, the beetle chooses a piece of it more beautifully and more and tries to hide it from its competitors. You have to hide in the ground, in a hole dug in advance.

Parental concerns of dung beetles are very peculiar. Adult insects are selected from their burrows by the end of summer and begin to prepare their fodder mink. Then the mink is filled with food reserves. The food mink fills directly with the owner - the manure. A gray autumn day allows bugs to take a walk, because they love the moisture and coolness, and even on such a day you can meet your couple. And despite the fact that the mating season is not yet soon, from the day of the meeting the bugs no longer part.

The stocks of insects are very diverse. This is not only the litter of animals, but also leaves, small flowers, seeds, and small fruits. All the stocks of the married couple now produce together. The male basically becomes the getter, and the female processes the delivered food. Processing is considered to be adding to the available reserves of the litter of the female and male and rolling the mass into lumps, in which the process of fermentation will later take place. After the onset of spring, couples are in copulation. By this time the balls of provisions have already fermented, and the female divides them into small circles, from which it makes bowls. She puts the testicles in the bowls and closes the caps. After this, the female does not leave her hole, taking care of her offspring, and the beetle-bark male constantly supplies the whole family with food.

As you can see, despite the unattractive name, this beetle is a very interesting insect.
