The girl from Dagestan

Can you name a Dagestan writer who was born in Moscow? Probably, it is possible, because, having lived up to 17 years in Dagestan, Alisa Ganieva had time to study and understand all the subtleties connected with the life of the Caucasian republic. The best works of Alisa Ganieva are dedicated to the people of Dagestan.

For those who do not know: Dagestan is not Chechnya, the upbringing of the girls there is not as puritanical as some might think. Of course, in deaf villages, girls still follow traditions in clothes and behavior. For example, the tradition of wearing kerchiefs, which for a long time already do not consider urban dwellers mandatory, is still observed in the villages.

Ganiev is a modern author who does not forget about his roots and has a good metropolitan education. Her characters are the Dagestanis who, in connection with the modern realities, broke away from their roots, but still did not come to anything new. These are girls who learned to attend expensive salons and threw off hateful scarves, and young people flaunting newfangled words and all sorts of expensive gizmos.

Who is Gull?

At the beginning of her creative career Alisa Ganieva takes the pseudonym of Gulla Hirach. This name is quite common for Dagestan, despite its cacophony in Russian. During the awarding of the Debut Prize in 2009, which the author was awarded for the story "Salam to you, Dalgat!", No one expected that Gulla is Alice, and Hirachev is Ganiev. Here the writer had to open up, because it was required to go on stage and get a prize.

In her works the young writer tells about the lives and destinies of the most ordinary people - Dagestanis. And by the way she does it, we can conclude how much Alice likes these people. She wants to convey to the whole world the truth about her homeland.

What is the story about?

Collection of stories about the North Caucasus, written by Alisa Ganieva, "Salam you, Dalgat!" Is designed to show the reader a real modern Dagestan and save many of the prejudices associated with the life foundations of the Dagestanis. He opens the Country of Horus in a new way to the reader.

The protagonist is Makhachkala's Dalgat. Several stories about how he lived only one summer day, you can make out an idea of the way of life of a small Dagestan town. The use of slang expressions in large numbers makes it clearer to the reader how far Dagestan has left its traditions and how far away it is from coming to something.

Novels by Alisa Ganieva

The novel "Festive Mountain" is an attempt to describe the Caucasus as if it had separated and existed outside of Russia. The heroes of the book are people who have lost their roots, who have not been able to adapt to European values. All their attempts to change the age-old traditions are illustrated by the example of a single settlement whose main population is middle-aged people, which is why it is difficult for them to radically change something in their lives, but they do not want to live in the old way.

A new novel by writer Ganieva "The Bride and Groom" narrates about the peculiarities of marriage in the Caucasus. Young people want to get more freedom in choosing a couple, the older generation does not want to leave traditions. Superstitions, fortune telling and other attributes accompanying this event, do not allow young people to live their lives. And then there are newfangled foreign interpretations of Islam, which have nothing to do with the freedom-loving Caucasus. As a result, the bride and groom are separated, for them very different destinies are prepared. The novel has everything to entice the reader: descriptions of family life, the theft of a girl, a funeral.

Awards

Despite the short creative path, Alisa Ganieva has many awards and nominations. On her account prestigious awards "Russian Booker", "Big Book", "Student Booker", "National Bestseller" and others.

Loyal criticism

Critics in relation to the work of Alisa Ganieva are mostly positive. Only a few are indignant at how frankly she expresses her point of view on what is happening in modern Dagestan. From the side of their fellow countrymen Ganiev also did not receive support, Islamic fundamentalists do not approve of it either.

The most intelligent and beautiful girls in Russia consider the group "PoPugan" some of the critics. Someone compares the young talent with foreign writers who are also trying to acquaint the inhabitants of megacities with the way the remote place lives. A man who is absolutely cut off from the reality of the Caucasus and at the same time fully understands it, calls Ganiev one of the critics.

There are also those who praise the writer for her scientific mentality and for the ability to choose from much that is important.

According to the newspaper The Guardian in 2015, Ganiev is included in the list of the most talented young residents of Moscow.

Someone sees much deeper and believes the story and novels of Ganiev's works, in which some secret meaning is hidden. Some, on the contrary, say that the works of the young author lack wisdom, but in fact he is young. In the course of time wisdom will come, and these will be completely different works.

And now Alisa Ganieva is a young beautiful Russian writer who, most likely, will please her fans with more than one work.
