South of the capital of Siberia is a very remarkable water object. This is one of the largest in the country plain reservoirs - Novosibirsk. Often it is called "Ob sea". This definition is due not only to its magnitude. The reservoir was finally formed in its present shape by 1959, after the construction of the Novosibirsk hydroelectric dam. The reservoir had a very large recreational potential. It is due to the natural features of the reservoir, stretching from the north to the south along the Ob River for more than 220 kilometers. The width of the reservoir ranges from 2 to 23 kilometers, and it really looks like the sea with its endless water surface. The coast here is covered for a considerable length of dense coniferous and mixed vegetation, there are many bays, creeks and islands of different sizes and shapes. Recreation bases on the Ob Sea proved to be located very well for vacationers. Siberian nature has its characteristic visual expressiveness, which is generously represented along the entire coast of the Ob. Over time, these places become one of the most sought-after destinations. For tourists from the central regions of the country and abroad, local realities - Siberian ethnographic and natural exotics, the Ob Sea, recreation centers were attractive. Photographs of these shores are already habitually adorned with advertising materials of travel agencies, inviting the public to Siberia to rest. And stay in these places is attractive both for natural climatic factors, and for price parameters. Here a good ecology, the entire industry of the region is concentrated considerably north, downstream of the Ob River.

The tourist infrastructure at the Novosibirsk reservoir has been rebuilt quite well in recent years. Those who plan a visit to its shores, have a wide choice. Among the most popular tourist sites are the following: "Khmelevka" in the Karakan forest, a convenient quiet place for family rest and fishing; "Balush", a tourist base, located in a pine forest, ten minutes walk from the shore; "Brigantine", more distant from the regional center is a place that is popular with lovers of sailing and water-motor sport.
