Rumikoz is an antifungal drug that is used for onychomycosis, systemic tropical mycoses, vulvovaginal candidiasis, and multicolored lichen. With mycosis of the mouth, eyes and skin, which are caused by mold and yeast fungi or dermatophytes, the remedy "Rumikoz" is also used. Instructions for use shows this drug in systemic mycoses, for example, in aspergillosis (in case of poor tolerance of amphotericin B), paracoccidioidomycosis, cryptococcosis (cryptococcal meningitis), sporotrichosis, histoplasmosis, blastomycosis.

Active active substance Rumikoza - itraconazole. The drug is absorbed from the digestive tract in full, and the reception immediately after meals significantly increases the bioavailability of the drug "Rumikoz". The instruction to it shows that the remedy penetrates into tissues and organs, accumulates in the kidneys, liver, lungs and bones, skeletal muscles and stomach. The concentration of the active substance exceeds in these tissues the plasma in two to four times. The maximum presence of the drug in the body is achieved after three to four hours, and the drug binds to plasma proteins by 99.8%.

The therapeutic effect can be achieved within one week and last about six months after a three-month course of treatment. Contraindications and side effects

To use an antifungal agent "Rumikoz" and alcohol is simultaneously categorically forbidden. Since the drug catalyzes metabolic processes in the liver, a side effect against the background of alcohol consumption may occur toxic liver damage, up to acute liver failure, which can lead to death. It is not recommended to drink alcohol earlier than two weeks after taking the last capsule of Rumikoza. Other contraindications for the use of this drug, except for hypersensitivity to the active substance of the drug, is lactation and pregnancy.

Side effects during the administration of the drug "Rumikoz" instruction describes as follows. On the part of the gastrointestinal tract may be nausea and vomiting, indigestion, constipation, increased appetite, anorexia, abdominal pain, hepatitis, in addition, the activity of liver transaminases increases. Also at the time of taking the drug "Rumikoz" the instruction suggests other side effects - baldness, pulmonary edema, hypokalemia, weight gain. Allergic reactions are possible, such as a rash, itchy skin, angioedema, hives, Stevens-Johnson syndrome. In the genitourinary system, the following side effects may occur: dysmenorrhea, albuminuria, edematous syndrome, changes in urine color to dark, impotence, decreased libido.

However, similar drugs are practically the same, except for Itraconazole, which is contraindicated also by the simultaneous administration of certain drugs (substrates of the isoenzyme CYP3A4, midazolam and triazolam, as well as ergot alkaloids, and others).
