Ancient Bonn: attractions to be seen

The former capital of Germany with the loss of its former status has not lost its positions, and now the city of Bonn remains not only a cultural, but also an economic center on a world scale. However, tourists are surprised by the silence in the city and note its provinciality. This is the main feature of the homeland of Beethoven: life here flows smoothly, and no one is in a hurry.

Beethoven-Haus

Ancient Bonn, whose sights reflect its rich past, is located in the Rhine Valley, near Cologne. Of course, the most famous resident of the former capital is a brilliant German musician, who lived here before moving to Vienna. In honor of Beethoven there is a monument on the Munsterplatz square. Curiously, the initiator of its construction was another classic - Ferenc Liszt.

In the city there is also a Beethoven museum - this is the house where the composer was born, and now his personal belongings are stored here, including the hours that stopped after death, notes and drafts. No fan of classical music passes by such an important cultural institution, which is rightfully proud of Bonn (Germany).

On the first floor of the building everyone can listen to famous masterpieces, wearing headphones, and the museum souvenir shop offers to buy books about Beethoven's life, as well as CDs with his perpetual works. Every autumn the city hosts a music festival dedicated to genius and collecting performers from all corners of our planet.

Bonner Münster Basilika

Calm Bonn, whose attractions are the object of admiration for all tourists, is famous for its main Catholic cathedral, depicted on the city coat of arms. St. Martin's Basilica, where the coronations of the rulers of Germany were held, appeared in the 13th century on the site of an ancient Roman temple, and it is simply impossible not to notice it. From different ends of the city, you can see a 96-meter tower that swept into the sky. A unique structure enthralls all who are not indifferent to the beautiful architectural monuments. The external appearance of the basilica, where Gothic, Romanesque and Baroque styles intertwined, is not inferior to the amazing interior decoration of the church.

Tourists get acquainted with relics of the early Christian period, which make a huge impression. To the left of the city's business card is a bronze fountain dedicated to the saint.

Marktplatz and Altes Rathaus

In the heart of the pearl of Germany is the Market Square, whose history dates back to the time when the picturesque Bonn was a very small settlement. Attractions Marktplatz attract thousands of travelers who dream of touching the past. Now the oldest square is a busy intersection of city streets. On it stands the famous town hall, built in the Rococo style. A remarkable building that remembers the most famous politicians passing through its steps, casts gold and silver. Cherry tunnel

Perhaps very few people know, but Bonn (Germany) is a city where every spring a unique cherry blossom festival is held. The streets of Breite Straße and Heerstrasse, on which cherry trees intertwined, resemble canvases of painters, turning into a kind of pink tunnel above the road. Flowering lasts only 10 days, and at this time the city is filled with thousands of admiring tourists.

The exact date of flowering cherry blossoms will not be called by anyone, but most often it occurs in mid-April. Burning pink Bonn, whose sights are created by nature itself, looks picturesque in the daytime and fantastically at night - by the light of shimmering lanterns. And when the petals fall to the ground, they cover the streets with a silk carpet.

"The Museum Mile"

Tourists who come to the city of Bonn for cultural impressions will receive a lot of positive emotions from visiting the area called "Museum Mile". The constellation of famous exhibition halls is known far beyond Germany.

Museum of Modern Art, Academic Art Museum, Schumann Museum , Zoological, Local History and Egyptian Museums are just a small list of what the city will offer tourists. The cultural institutions of the homeland of Beethoven, in their wealth, can compete with institutions of this kind in Dresden or Berlin.

Created in 1981 by a feminist artist, the Bonn Women's Museum is considered one of the most unusual. Talented Marianna Pitzen, who learned from her own experience how difficult it is to get into the world of art for ladies, decided to help the fair sex representatives express themselves loudly. It is not only a spacious venue with various expositions, but also a children's art studio, and a shop of decorative items.

Godesburg

In the vicinity of the city is located the ancient castle of Godesburg, which enjoys incredible popularity. In addition, it has a large car park, the largest airport in the north-west of the country.
