An openwork scarf crocheted on the fork

Surprisingly light and delicate scarves are obtained when crocheting on a fork, or hairpin. For a long time this kind of needlework was undeservedly forgotten, but now in the stores there were special devices for knitting products of different sizes and shapes. If there is no possibility to buy ready-made tools, they can be made independently from a wire or a flexible knitting needle.

As a result of work on the fork, ribbons are obtained, which are connected in a variety of ways into finished products. So you can tie a shawl and a poncho, a pareo and an openwork scarf. Hook braid is fast enough, and the creation of motifs or stripes depends only on your imagination. Even if you have absolutely no experience, do not be upset!

Do not go straight for a big and technically difficult work, tie the openwork scarf to the beginning with a crochet.

The scheme of actions in this case is very simple, and we will consider it in more detail.

First of all, you need to choose the right yarn, which will advantageously show the features of the air lace mating.

The best option is a down or mohair thread, from it you will get a light fishnet scarf hook. For a denser and warm scarf, grass with a short pile is suitable.

The width of the finished ribbon depends on the size of the fork, so for fine yarn it is better to take it not too wide, from three to four centimeters. In addition to the fork, we will need a hook number 2 and 100 grams of mohair thread.

How to tie an openwork scarf - technique of execution

We perform on the hairpin several bands of the same length, usually enough 300 long loops. You can connect them in different ways. The easiest way to combine the loops into groups of 3-4 pieces and twist together in the form of a braid crocheting a larger number. First we take 2 tapes, bind them, sequentially picking up DPs (long loops) from one and the second, until the row ends. In the same way, add the following stripes until the scarf is sufficiently wide. From the outer sides we tie the product, keeping the same pattern in which the whole scarf is made. Edge if desired, decorate with brushes.

You can also assemble an openwork scarf by a hook in another way. In this case, the long loops are grouped by 2-3 and fixed with columns without a cap over the tops, air loops are made between them. Each band is wrapped around a string of arches from the air loops, in the next row we perform the connecting posts in the arches. Our product is ready, now it needs to be slightly moistened and pinned with tailor's pins to a solid basis until it dries completely.

If you have got a nice and accurate openwork scarf hook, it makes sense to try your hand and tie a lace vest or skirt of ribbon yarn, which is also great for knitting on a hairpin. Threads for such a product are better to take natural, more smooth viscose will have to be tightened more tightly when making the braid. Connect the rows of skirts among themselves, twisting the DP in braids or alternating them with rows of columns with a crochet. With sufficient skill, the combination of the front panel, knitted with spokes, and the ribbons made on the fork, gives an amazing result, simulating the embroidery of a cross-stitch.
