The beginning of the 1970s for Soviet hockey was a new stage in development. This sport was given special attention. It was concluded that hockey needs a strong theoretical basis. A consequence of this was a scientific and well-grounded approach to the training of professional players, which gave its results. The Soviet Union managed to raise a generation of the greatest athletes. One of the representatives of this galaxy was Alexander Nikolayevich Maltsev - a hockey player, whose biography knew a large number of victories and records.

Childhood and parents

Nikolai Mikhailovich and Anastasia Stepanovna Maltsevs - the parents of Alexander - were from the village of Setkovtsy. This area is no longer on maps, and with its existence it was located 20 kilometers from the city of Kirovo-Chepetsk. The Maltsev family had many children. Anastasia Stepanovna was engaged in housekeeping, working in the garden and raising children. And Nikolai Mikhailovich was a mechanic.

April 20, 1949 in the family there was a joyful event - the son Alexander was born. After 3 years they moved to Kirovo-Chepetsk. This city can be considered native to Maltsev.

The first steps in hockey

Alexander Maltsev studied very well at school. And when he told his parents that he was going to enroll in the hockey section, his mother protested. In her head the notion: "Maltsev is a hockey player" did not fit. But Alexander showed perseverance and received the good from his parents for classes. Here Maltsev was waiting for another barrier. Because of low growth, he was denied the coach of the children's team "Chemist" Polyakov. Again showing perseverance, Alexander got a place in the team.

At the age of 15, hockey forced out all other hobbies from the life of the young hockey player. So began to appear the first sporting success. Professional career

Maltsev - hockey player, who at 17 years attracted the attention of the coach of the Sunday "Chemist" and the youth national team of the USSR Nikolai Epstein. Then Alexander played in his hometown Kirovo-Chepetsk in the team "Olympia". Epstein wanted to attract a young striker to the "Chemist", but kept it a secret. To begin with, he invited young Maltsev to Sweden to play for a youth at the Ahern Cup.

In parallel with Epstein for Maltsev began to look at the coach of the Moscow "Dynamo" Victor Vasilyevich Tikhonov. The latter did not pull, and in 1967 he ensured the transfer of the hockey player from Olimpia to Dynamo. Moving to Moscow was the main event in life for Maltsev. In "Dynamo" he will spend his entire career. The following year he made his debut for the USSR national team. And at the 1970 Olympics, Maltsev is a hockey player who has established a record of the effectiveness of that tournament: 15 goals and 6 assists. Playing in the national team, Alexander Nikolaevich many times received the title of the best player of the World Cup. For such a high achievement, Maltsev received the nickname "Grandmaster", so well, in chess, he could read and play the game. Maltsev is a hockey player of the USSR, similar to whom sports history did not know yet. They were set a team record: 212 goals in 319 matches.

Completion of career

Like any athlete, Alexander Maltsev began to lose in effectiveness with age. Its decline occurred in the early 80's. Every year the great champion began to score less. However, the Moscow "Dynamo" did not lose in quality. Great experience and skill allowed Maltsev to become an unsurpassed assistant. Alexander Nikolayevich in a grandmaster's way brought his team-mates to a blow, giving the transfer counter to the opponent's defense.

Friendship with Valery Kharlamov

In 1981, a tragic event happened. Valery dies in a car accident. For Maltsev, the death of a best friend became a heavy blow. It became doubly worse after Alexander could not attend the funeral. Personal life

Despite the fact that Alexander Maltsev - a hockey player, his family turned out strong and friendly. His wife Susanna Alexander met in 1972 on the Odessa beach. September 19, 1973, the couple played a wedding. Witnesses were Susanna's friend and, of course, Maltsev's best friend Valery Kharlamov. On the same day the Moscow derby "CSKA" - "Dynamo" took place. In the morning the registry office, and in the evening the witness and the groom came out on the ice. A year later the young couple had a son named Alexander, named after his father. Evaluating the sporting achievements of Alexander Maltsev, he can be called an outstanding hockey player, who achieved incredible heights in prestigious hockey tournaments - the World Championships and the Olympic Games.

The Soviet hockey player became the champion of the world 9 times. The first series of championships - 1969-1971, the second - 1973-1975. In subsequent years, he could not become a champion several times. But the next gold awards were separated from each other for a short time: 1978, 1981, 1983. In the piggy bank of the brilliant striker there are still silver medals of the 1972 and 1976 World Cup, as well as the bronze of the tournament, which took place in 1977.

Olympic champion Maltsev became and in tournaments in 1972 and 1976. In 1980, the athlete won a prestigious silver medal. To this, it is worth adding the multiple title of the best attacking world and Europe.
