All kinds of brickwork for your home

In modern construction, there are many types of bricks that are used depending on the purpose of the building.

Types of material

The properties of the brick primarily depend on its composition. Impurities and additives give the product additional characteristics, for example, increased frost resistance, heat resistance, strength, the ability to withstand the impact of aggressive chemicals. According to the configuration, they are divided into solid and hollow. Of these bricks are usually erected walls, but to give a more aesthetic appearance of the design, facing, glazed and curly bricks are used.

Building walls

To create various designs using brick, various types of brickwork are used. Depending on what the thermal properties of the future building should have, the thickness of the walls varies. The standard parameters of a structural unit, in other words, one brick, are 250x120x65 mm; When making a masonry, the gap between rows and elements is approximately equal to 1 cm - this should be a seam that provides sufficient strength of the structure. Types of brickwork vary in thickness, but in any case the thickness of the wall will be a multiple of 60 mm, i.e. Half the width of one unit.

Appearance of masonry

It is difficult not to notice that brick buildings differ from each other, and it's not even in their architecture. A huge role is played by types of brickwork - that is, in what sequence and which side are the structural elements. The most usual for our eyes is a chain-laying, when one row is laid with a spoonful part, and the other with a spade piece. In some cases, the proportions change somewhat, and one tipped row has several spoonfuls. To give the building a more interesting look, other, complex and original types of brickwork are used, photos of which are offered in huge numbers on construction sites. Quite spectacularly look Gothic, Dutch, cross, multi-row and English masonry. In any case, the type of masonry is changed by alternating the bump and spoon sides of the brick, the number of repetitive rows, and also the dressings.

Strengthening the structure

Speaking about types of brickwork, do not forget that in addition to protection from the effects of atmospheric phenomena and aesthetic design, they are also assigned other functions, for example, structural components. Therefore, the walls and columns should be sufficiently reliable to withstand the load transmitted from the upper floors. In modern construction, well-walled masonry is often used, when a kind of shell is created from bricks, filled with concrete from within with a suitable brand or with a backfill. If a building subject to severe loads is projected (for example, it has equipment that regularly generates dynamic loads or the structure is in a seismically active area), reinforcement should be used. It is longitudinal and transverse; Grids or rods are installed either in vertical seams, or outside, or between rows of masonry. It is important to take into account the protection of reinforcement from corrosion: the solution must envelop each rod on all sides, preventing moisture and air.

Different types of brickwork in the pictures are presented on the sites for the production of building materials: thus, it will be easier for you to choose the type of brick that suits you and to represent your future home more vividly.
