Air valve for heating: types, device, purpose

The efficiency of heating depends on a combination of several factors. But even with a powerful boiler, good radiators and well-organized communication, the efficiency of the entire system can be reduced. The reason for this is the air that appears in the pipes. It creates air congestion and interferes with the circulation of the coolant. All this, in turn, leads to over-consumption of fuel. Therefore, all closed- type heating systems are equipped with so-called air valves.

How does air in the heating system

Both open and closed heating systems are subject to the process of formation of air inside. This is inevitable, and the reasons for this are as follows:

  • Release of air from water. The standard content of air in water is over 30 grams per ton. Under the influence of temperature processes, part of this air is released into a free state.
  • Leaks in the system. If the heating is not tight, then it is necessary to replenish it with water, creating the necessary pressure. The pump, along with water, also supplies air bubbles, as a process of cavitation occurs.
  • Calculations in the design of heating, leading to a boiling system or cavitation processes on the suction hole of the circulation pump. Incorrect bias prevents the air from moving to the points of the dispatch. Lack of sufficient air valves or improper installation.

Also, when the water is pumped into the hollow pipes, the air in the heating system can not be completely removed.

In addition to the fact that air prevents heat transfer, oxygen contained in it, contributes to the process of corrosion of the metal parts of the system.

Air Valve: What is it?

A sanitary unit designed to remove air formations from a closed heating system by pulling them out is called an air vent, or, scientifically, an air valve. There are two types: an air valve for heating manual type and automatic.

Such devices are installed in the places of the supposed accumulation of air to prevent the formation of air congestion. All heating radiators are equipped with air vents, and each line of the circuit must have an automatic air vent for heating.

For greater efficiency, the air exhaust valves are installed together with the air separator system. Vantuzy are made of materials resistant to corrosion and the formation of salt deposits. And they work under increased pressure and temperature.

Air Valve Assembly for Heating System

The standard vent valve has:

  • The body , which is fixed to a specific point of the heating system by means of a threaded connection with a rubber gasket.
  • Valve outlet. An element that operates in automatic mode or is driven by an adjusting screwdriver. It has a rubber gasket or cone that closes the outlet channel.

Usually, the material for making the valve is brass and heat-resistant plastic.

Valve type

Or the air valve for heating Majewski is a device for removing air in a manual mode. The element is designed to be installed on the radiators of the heating system at the top. The design assumes an outlet valve on the thread with a flat slot for a screwdriver. The installation of the element in the system can be in both vertical and horizontal position with the outlet channel upwards.

Every time the system is restarted, after repair work or frequent swapping, water is used by this air vent. Using a screwdriver, carefully unscrew the discharge bolt until a characteristic hiss of air through the drain hole appears. When the water appears in it, the bolt is screwed back to the stop. This operation is carried out with all radiators.

Automatic valve

This mechanism is an obligatory element in the safety group of the boiler. It has an automatic valve, organized on the basis of a float mechanism.

In the initial state, when there is no air at the air inlet, the float is held by the water pressure. The exhaust valve is closed. As soon as the air begins to accumulate inside the float chamber, there comes a moment when the pressure drops and the float drops. The bleed valve bleeds air. After that, the system returns to its original state.

The air valve for heating the automatic type for air traffic is installed strictly vertically in the system. In addition to automatic triggering, there is a mechanism for manually releasing air and forcibly closing the air vent. The scope of the device is not limited only to heating systems, it can also be installed in:

  • Pipelines.
  • Air separators.
  • Systems of hot water supply - a valve for a water heater.

It is strictly forbidden to use the device in the field of application of oils and liquids on a mineral basis.

The rules for installing the air vent in the system

In order to efficiently ventilate the system, the valves must be installed in the places where the air is most concentrated. Such places are:

  • Highest points of the system. This is due to the fact that air always tends upwards.
  • Radiators. This is especially true for aluminum-based heaters, as they chemically stimulate the process of decomposition of water into gaseous components.
  • Ramps, combs, separators.
  • In collector-type heating - on each supply line in the reservoir.
  • In the system "warm floor" - its highest points.
  • In the heating boiler itself, in the heat exchanger, an automatic air vent for heating is also installed.

It must be remembered that there should be free access to the locations of installation of air vent valves, and the installation itself should be convenient for maintenance, repair and replacement.

Maintenance

Water contains salt solutions. In heating under the influence of temperature, these salts are deposited on the elements of the system, dirt can also penetrate and clog channels. Therefore, it is necessary to periodically check and carry out preventive measures in all the most critical sites. Especially this applies to air and safety valves.

The first condition for the reliable operation of an automatic air vantuz is to find it under constant water pressure. The pressure should not fall below the 0.030 bar. This condition is ensured by inserting an expansion tank into the tank system. It has a rubber pear under pressure.

In order to avoid clogging and jamming the vent valve, the mechanism is periodically disassembled and cleaned. Also, you can not operate the system without coarse filters. They also need to be inspected periodically.

When water is leaking through the air valve for heating, and this does not eliminate the cleaning method, it is advisable to replace the device.

Conclusion

If during the operation of the heating system radiators, pipes began to make incomprehensible babbling and gurgling sounds, if there is uneven heating of the system or some of its elements do not warm up at all, often the pressure drops, which means that its maintenance and airing are required.
