Acoustic panel: advantages, features of application and installation

The acoustic panel is a special material used for soundproofing of premises. It can be used both in residential apartments, and when decorating walls of professional recording studios, cinemas. These panels can be made of many materials, have different decorative design.

Advantages of acoustic panels

The presented elements have a sufficient number of positive qualities that make them popular and indispensable:

  • Good sound insulation;
  • The ability to choose style and coloring elements;
  • high efficiency;
  • A variety of panel sizes;
  • Environmental safety ;
  • An acceptable cost;
  • Perfectly protect both from external and internal noise.

In addition, the acoustic panel itself decorates the room itself, so you do not have to decorate it in addition. It should be noted that these elements are fairly simple to clean. Also, during installation, they do not need the use of special tools. You can make their mount yourself, without anyone's help.

Varieties and features of the use of the product

The acoustic panel can be made of soft and hard materials. Very often you can find a product based on foam rubber, wood, plastic, fiberglass, MDF. I must say that the material presented can be used both in home and in production conditions. At the same time it is usually attached to walls and to the ceiling. And for this, both bearing and non-bearing structures are used. It does not matter what the wall is made of.

It should be noted that the acoustic panel can be corrugated and smooth. The first type is most often installed in professional studios, where not only protection from extraneous noise is needed, but also an improvement in recording quality. Ordinary smooth elements can be additionally glued on wallpaper. However, now there are acoustic decorative panels that have a beautiful appearance, and do not require additional design.

Mounting Features

It is not hard to do this, you just have to decide on the method of attachment: frame or frameless. In this case, either self-tapping screws (staples of the construction stapler) or glue are used. The second option is the most acceptable and often used. If you have chosen a frameless way of fixing, then the walls in any case need to be treated: clean and primed. The advantage of this method is that it practically does not take up free space.

If you want to apply the first method of fixing, then for this you will need to purchase a metal profile, from which the frame will be made. In this case, the panel will need to be screwed with screws. Despite the fact that you have to tinker with a little metal construction, it will be much easier for you to fasten the panels later on. In addition, in this case, the elements can be reused.

Note that the metal will have to be attached to the vibration isolating hangers. In this way acoustic sandwich panels are mounted.
