Aborigines knew what Columbus had discovered!

The person of Christopher Columbus is still covered with riddles. Scientists until our times have not decided on the date and place of his birth. The role of the motherland claimed 14 cities. But the litigation process is not over yet, the struggle continues. But the main advantage of the great navigator is that discovered by Columbus, the son of a simple Genoese weaver who devoted his life to the discovery of new and shorter trade routes.

Noble Goals

Young Christopher was very well-read, interested in astronomy and geography. He took part in many sea voyages, acquired the skills of the pilot, the captain.

Marrying a young beauty Felipe, Christopher became a relative of the famous seaman, who in his youth was part of the retinue of Henry the Navigator. His father-in-law suggested that Columbus study some documents. They reflected credible facts from the life of Portuguese mariners, plowing the Atlantic, which caused Columbus an unbearable desire to devote his life to the discovery of new sea routes. For many years he had to seat the thresholds of representatives of power crowned by the people of Portugal, England, France, receiving widespread refusals before the first expedition to India was equipped. Christopher believed that the Earth was round, but he was sure that the size of the planet is small, and you can reach the shores of the country of India in a more concise way. When considering the question of what Christopher Columbus discovered , the answer must be sought, by studying the brief chronology of his journey.

Historical solution

Assistance came from Spain, whose financial situation was on the brink of collapse due to the war with the Arabs. To replenish the empty coffers, the country needed new lands for sale. The richest noblemen were left without means of subsistence, and all they could do was conduct wars of conquest. The Spanish royal family was ready to send them anywhere to get rid of the troubled hidalgo. In addition, the goals and calculations that Columbus discovered by the Spanish king were given the opportunity to conquer new countries and enslave even more natives. In the 15th century, for the Spaniards, the way to India along the African coasts was closed due to poor relations with the Portuguese, which hindered normal trade.

To make a final decision, the king was forced to coordinate the project with the Catholic Church. Given the new expansive possibilities, the church elite approved the travel project. The King and the Catholic Church concluded a contract with Christopher Columbus - surrender. According to the document, Columbus received the rank of admiral and became the king of the new lands he discovered.

An error that brought glory and honor

The expedition went to sea on August 3, 1492. The flotilla consisted of three caravels heading southwest. After the passage of the Sargasso Sea, the sailors wandered among thick algae, finding no shore. On the ships a riot was brewing, and in order to avoid bloodshed, Columbus changed course once again to the southwest, and on October 12 the sailors saw the shore. Members of the team and Columbus decided that this is one of the islands of Japan. Moving on, he discovered another island and gave it the name of Hispaniola - today Haiti.

After studying the climate and the external appearance of the aborigines, the team realized that what Columbus discovered was not at all like the lands previously discovered and described by travelers. On the island there were no traces of the extraction of gold fossils, the natives walked naked, without signs of interference in their lifestyle of other cultures. The island was rich in gold, which amazed the imagination of sailors. Near the coast of Haiti, Columbus lost his biggest ship and left the crew on the island, building a fort fortified with guns, gunpowder, with large supplies of food. It was the first Spanish fortress on the New Earth, with the name Navidad - Christmas, in which the first settlers were left.

Life after discovery

On his return to Spain, the admiral was greeted as an honorary citizen, but the lands discovered by Columbus did not give rest to the Portuguese crown. A significant role in the settlement of this issue was played by the church, thanks to which historical negotiations were held. Part of the eastern lands was given to the power of Portugal, and the western from the Azores to the power of the Spanish crown.

The next three trips were opened to the Spanish court of the island of Jamaica, Trinidad, Puerto Rico, the Lesser Antilles , etc. But the famous navigator until the end of his days was sure he had discovered another, unexplored side of India, and therefore nicknamed the new lands of the West Indies.

Recognition from ordinary people

In his last travels, the Admiral was very stern to the noble conquistadors, and they accused him of overstepping power and cruelty. Concluding the Columbus in shackles, the authorities met the outrage of ordinary citizens and was forced to release the admiral, returning him all the hard-won titles. Ordinary people were grateful for discovering Columbus. Many were happy to move from Spain and own a piece of land in the West Indies.
