Kickboxing: what is it? Kickboxing classes

Kickboxing - what is it? This sport absorbed many elements of the classic English boxing school and traditional karate, becoming a kind of "fusion" of these types of martial arts. A little later in this form of martial arts added some elements of technology from Thai boxing, as well as taekwondo. Characterizing the kickboxing in general terms, they say that this is the most diverse drumming martial arts, the rules of which do not prohibit kicks and hands when using boxing gloves. It is necessary to consider this kind of martial arts in more detail in order to answer the question: "Kickboxing - what is it?"

Becoming a sporting event

The date of birth of this type of martial art is considered the beginning of the 70s of the twentieth century. It was at this time that the first section of kickboxing appeared. Places of origin - Western Europe and the United States, where kickboxing appeared almost at the same time. This kind of martial art perfectly combined traditions and experience, which for many centuries formed in the West and in the East.
"The father" of kickboxing is considered to be Chuck Norris, who invented the name of this martial art.

By the early 1970s, America had a sufficient number of schools where various styles of martial arts were taught, such as wushu, taekwondo, karate, etc. However, each martial art was subject to its own rules, which means that a representative of one species could not compete In skills with a representative of another kind of martial arts. Then there was an idea to organize competitions in which against each other could compete as fans of Wushu, and adore karate, taekwondo and other martial arts, common at that time.

Initially, such events were called All Style Karate or Full Contact Karate. The first such kickboxing competitions were held in September 1974. Participants fought in four weight categories, and the winners were a resident of Mexico and three Americans. Since that date, kickboxing competitions have become regular. Initially, they were conducted only in the US, and then moved to other countries. Athletes who became models for imitation, began with a variety of martial arts (Korean martial arts, wushu, karate, etc.).

European kickboxing

In Europe, the first section of kickboxing arose from the filing of Dominique Valera. As a result of his disagreements with the management of the WUKO Dominic decided to give up his sports career on tatami and try to build it in the ring. By the end of the 70s, he became the founder of the National Committee for Full Contact, which over time grew into the National Federation of American Boxing. By the beginning of the 1980s professional fights in French boxing were stopped in France, and many athletes looking for a better place for their training chose to practice kickboxing.

What is the situation with such a sporting event in Japan

In the East, namely Japan, the greatest interest in kickboxing was noted in the mid-1970s. At that time the country had about 6 thousand athletes of this kind of martial arts. In the process of active development of kickboxing, three organizations emerged, which became the main ones: the All-Japan Kickboxing Association, the World Kickboxing Association, and the Kurosaki League, led by Kurosaki Kenji.

In Japanese kickboxing, there were rules: for example, the round did not last 3 minutes, and 2. For some time, the Americans and the Japanese acted together, concluding a treaty that talked about popularizing kickboxing and holding international competitions. It is clear that the rules of one kind of martial arts could not be different, so Japan had to make concessions. In part, this was due to a decrease in interest in kickboxing in the audience. In the early 80's, after a huge scandal involving athletes in Japan, the massive interest in kickboxing began to vanish, and the Japanese organizations completely dissolved in the American. Only the All-Japan Association remained intact, where in the early 1990s an entirely new phenomenon of sport was created - "mixed martial arts", code-named K-1.

Goals of the sporting event

The closest plans of all countries promoting kickboxing (including Russia) are: the spread of this martial arts among the population and, most importantly, joining the IOC, which means getting kickboxing the status of an Olympic sport.

Without equipment will not work

To start kickboxing, you should buy your equipment, because this sport has clear rules. One of the points of which says that the athlete must be protected. Before the athlete participates in the fight, the referee must check the availability and suitability of the protective equipment on it. What should the athlete wear?

What you need to buy

The first thing you need to buy a helmet, specifically designed for kickboxing. From the boxing helmet is more protective of the top, because in the kickbox is a large number of elements such as high kicks. In addition to the helmet, there must necessarily be a kappa, i.e. a tooth-protecting liner. In the hands of the athlete should be wearing boxing gloves, corresponding to the section in which the athlete beats (it can also be called a fighter). In addition to boxing gloves, the athlete's hands must be protected in the form of bandages of definitely measured length.

For male feyers, it is mandatory to have a "bandage" - to protect the groin, girls are advised to have a protective cuirass. In some sections of the kickbox, it is said that the athlete's legs must be protected with shields. On the bare feet are put on feet, with a closed heel.

The athlete can also be disqualified

In the event that the referee discovers the unprepared athlete on any criterion, he is given time, no more than one round, in order to bring himself into the proper form. If the fighter and after this time is not ready - it is simply disqualified. Such strict requirements are due to the fact that the risk of injury in the kickbox is extremely high. And in order to keep it to a minimum, at the same time leaving behind the spectacle of sports, in the course of decades such measures were developed to protect the health of the athlete. This should be understood by answering the question: "Kickboxing - what is this?"

The main types of sporting events

Competitions in kickboxing are conducted in 6 main sections. They include sections with full, limited and easy contact, tie-kickboxing (or oriental) and solo compositions - a fairly interesting kind of this kind of martial arts, in which the battle takes place with music, often with the involvement of additional items.

Can be divided into several types of kickboxing. What does it mean? In other words, they distinguish Japanese, American and European martial arts. The last two rules are the same.
