Specialty "Safety of technological processes and productions"

Safety of technological processes and productions - the direction of training bachelors of technical universities in Russia and abroad. The specialty appeared not so long ago: earlier any engineer with a technical background could become an engineer of this profile.

When did the specialty arise?

In a separate area of student training, occupational safety and production processes developed in 1994. Order of the Ministry of Health of Social Development of Russia was amended in the Qualification Handbook. Specialists occupying the position of labor safety engineers now had to have the appropriate level of training - at least a bachelor's degree.

Initially, the specialty was very rare. Over time, it has spread to most of the technical universities in Russia and now includes many narrow-profile training areas.

Specializations

During the introduction of the specialty there were only two training profiles: "Safety of technological processes and productions" and "Technospheric security". The engineers who received the education could find a job in any field that needs technospheric protection, regardless of the narrowly specialized direction.

At present, specializations are united in the specialty "Technospheric security". Each university has several areas for training engineers. Bachelor's program provides for students to study in specialties:

  • safety;
  • Fire safety of technological processes, productions;
  • environment protection;
  • Technospheric protection in case of emergency;
  • Safety of technological processes;
  • Safety in the technosphere.

The first 2-3 courses of the curriculum almost completely coincide, highly specialized subjects appear on the 3-4 year of training.

Characteristics of the curriculum

The profile "Safety of technological processes and productions" is the direction of training of engineers - specialists with higher technical education. The curriculum provides for the study of the necessary general technical, highly specialized, and humanitarian disciplines, which, in complex, should fully prepare the student for highly qualified work.

The humanitarian cycle can include history, philosophy, foreign languages, psychology and pedagogy, economics. General technical disciplines usually consist of physics, general chemistry, engineering graphics, higher mathematics, informatics and ecology. For specialists related to safety of life, from the first year in the curriculum add the discipline of human physiology.

Approximately in the middle of the entire training course, profile subjects are offered for studying, directly related to future qualifications. These include: life safety, combustion theory, fluid dynamics, technogenic risk, electronics and electrical engineering, and many other disciplines related to technical processes and the results of their impact on humans.

Scientific and practical work

Many technical universities offer students to participate in scientific conferences, olympiads. On the basis of major institutes scientific centers have been opened, which allow us to visually solve real problems under the guidance of the engineers. The scientific work of bachelor students is not mandatory, but it is welcomed and encouraged.

Practice is an indispensable stage in the teaching of any profession. Typically, the curriculum assumes several types of practice:

  • Non-productive;
  • Production;
  • Design and technological;
  • Pre-diploma.

Each of the types of practical skills training on the basis of theoretical knowledge lasts at least 1-2 weeks, depending on the type of practice. This is a key point in the educational process. Some universities offer students much more hours of practical work on the basis of scientific centers. Most often the work is paid extra, which, undoubtedly, attracts students.

Characteristics of practical training of students

The curriculum for each of the training areas contains requirements for practical hours. Non- production and production practice is also conducted among students of the specialty "Safety of technological processes and productions". Training and obtaining the necessary theoretical knowledge base is designed for the academic year, after which students go on practice.

Non-manufacturing practice implies the passage of classes at the profile department. This is the initial stage, which usually awaits students who completed the first year. The production practice is, as a rule, 4 weeks, and passes at the enterprise.

Design-technological and pre-diploma practice assumes full familiarization with production processes in reality and transferring the theory to practical skills. The student partially fulfills his future duties as an engineer under the guidance of a supervisor.

How to proceed?

In the established order it is necessary to pass the USE on mathematics, physics and Russian. The main subject is physics. The victories in the state olympiads give the applicants an advantage at admission. For graduates of past years, internal introductory tests for the same subjects are provided.

After successfully passing the exams and filing the documents, the passing threshold is entered into the ranks of students. Shortly after entering the university, it will be necessary to select a profile ("Safety of technological processes and production", "Labor protection", "Fire safety", etc.), which will be used for training. After completing the undergraduate level, universities invite talented students to participate in master's programs, which involve extensive scientific work.

"Safety of technological processes and productions" - who should work after the diploma?

An engineer who has received such an education is in demand on the labor market, moreover, it is not limited to the service industry alone. A specialist can get a job at any industrial enterprise, in state organizations for labor protection and in supervisory services.

On average, a city enterprise needs 30-40 specialists a year, which clearly indicates the relevance of specialization. Every year, organizations are increasingly focusing on industrial safety, which puts the engineers of the profile "Safety of technological processes and productions" in the ranks of the most sought after. In addition, the specialty assumes the implementation of primarily analytical work.

Official duties

A number of responsibilities are engineer profile "Safety of technological processes and production." The instruction regulating the work of the technospheric security officer is developed by each enterprise separately.

The list of duties may include:

  • The analysis of possible technospheric accidents and methods of their prevention;
  • The study of the impact of external factors and natural phenomena on technospheric objects;
  • Performance of research and development and processing of results;
  • Search for high-risk objects;
  • Preparation of projects and design documents for the devices being developed;
  • Development of rescue methods for emergency situations;
  • Training of workers in safety measures at work;
  • Advising and drafting safety instructions;
  • Examination of the security of the facility, monitoring and supervision of the state of the means of protection.

"Safety of technological processes and productions" is a specialty, which implies constant analysis and development of new methods that allow to reduce the number of undesirable incidents. Industrial safety is the basis for the qualitative activity of industrial enterprises, ensuring the effective work of both personnel and equipment.
