A new word in the decor: voluminous decoupage

Decoupage is quite a new direction in decorative art, but it already enjoys a certain popularity. This is largely due to simple methods of work that do not require special materials and tools, as well as interesting results that are obtained as a result. I must say that volumetric decoupage can be used in decorating many things, for example, lamps, frames for photos, tables, utensils and much more. This will brighten the interior and bring a note of originality into it. In addition, things made with their own hands cause more positive feelings.

We can say that volumetric decoupage is not just another decoupage technique, but a whole direction that allows you to make unusual 3D pictures from improvised materials. You can use ordinary gift paper, printed pictures or postcards to create images. Thanks to this technique, conventional flat pictures can acquire depth and volume.

It should be noted that volumetric decoupage requires carefully selected tools, in order to subsequently be comfortable to work with and do not have to be distracted by anything. In addition to the images themselves, you will need a variety of colors and textures paper, scissors, clerical knife. It is recommended to use a special rug for carving out details, as this will allow to exclude such moments as spoiled furniture. Since there may be small details, it is better to prepare a pair of tweezers in advance, which can be useful. To this list, it is mandatory to add glue, paints and brushes. The finished product may have to be covered with a special varnish. This is not an obligatory procedure, but in this way the picture will not only be preserved for a longer time, but will also become brighter. Varnish is best taken on a water-based basis, now there are special types that dry for hours, colorless and give extra volume to the product.

In addition, a special paste, based on clay, can be used in the work. It is very soft and quickly dries up in the air. When working with this material, spatulas or stacks are used. Made from such a paste element of the picture is covered with gouache and fixed with a colorless varnish.

The process itself, executed in the style of voluminous decoupage, is interesting, the technique of which is quite simple. Several, preferably five, printed products are used in the work. After the drawing is selected, it is necessary to determine those parts of it that need to be given volume. First, you need to make sure that these parts are well received, and only then get down to work. It must be remembered that some things are difficult to convey realistically, so you need to choose such parts that will look harmonious in the surrounding environment. Flowers are very popular in this respect. However, do not think that the theme of 3D decoupage is only revolving around plants. Interesting work, which depicts animals or various interior items.

Three zones are conventionally distinguished: the background, the intermediate layers and the foreground. The selection of the correct background is also important for the overall perception of the resulting product. Layers are glued with silicone glue (you can use PVA) against each other, with a small offset. To the finished composition, you can add a few dried leaves of a plant or interesting in form or form fruits.

Despite the fact that almost all styles of decoupage allow to make interesting and high-quality work, voluminous decoupage is distinguished among them by original solutions and surprising result, obtained as a result. The work done in this technique will serve as a good complement to the interior of the room.
