A cat after sterilization needs competent care

In veterinary medicine, sterilization of cats is carried out quite often, and most such operations go without complications. Surgical intervention is necessary if the animal has such serious diseases as a tumor of the uterus and ovaries, inflammation of the uterus of a purulent nature. In addition, sterilization is carried out in order to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. During estrus, cats behave inadequately: they often display aggression, shout loudly, become restless, etc. Conducting this simple operation allows you to get rid of such manifestations once and for all. Some owners believe that it is better to use contraceptives, but long-term use of such drugs is dangerous for the pet, because they are capable of causing hormonal disorders.

Such an operation should be carried out in the first year of life, when the animal is fully formed. Usually this happens at the age of eight months, but in some cases it can take up to a year and a half.

The cat after sterilization will need care. On how much it will be correct, the speed of its recovery depends. In advance it is necessary to prepare a box in which the animal could freely settle. At the bottom should put an oilcloth, because at first it is possible involuntary urination. From above spread an old sheet or other sufficiently soft cloth. The box should stand on the floor, because the coordination of movements of the operated animal will come back to normal only after 24 hours.

When the cat gets home after sterilization, it will need to be put in this box and covered, so that it will be warm. After the operation, the ears, limbs and tail of your pet will be very cold, but this should not be frightened. The cat undergoes a severe chill after anesthesia, and it will not be superfluous to put a warm-water bottle next to it, and in winter put the box closer to the battery. Soon, the main reflexes will gradually recover. During the first 24 hours, the cat sleeps most of the time, because anesthesia goes away. Sometimes at night the pet begins to cry, but experts do not recommend taking it to his pastel. The best option is to stroke the cat so that it calms down, and wait until the animal falls asleep again.

In the evening of the first postoperative day, it will be necessary to treat the seam with alcohol, and then this procedure should be carried out daily. A cat after sterilization to avoid postoperative complications should undergo a course of antibiotic therapy. Most specialists use the drug of prolonged action, so the owner of the animal will need to make only two subcutaneous injections.

To ensure that the cat does not damage the seams after the operation, they always put on a blanket on it. Usually animals do not like to wear this product, because it fetters their movements. But it should be worn until the stitches are removed, which usually takes 10-12 days. Popewash should be washed with soiling, so you should buy two at once.

The cat after sterilization can not immediately drink and eat, because the function of swallowing and the work of the intestines are not restored immediately. Approximately five hours later, you can put a bowl filled with water. It is recommended to begin feeding not earlier, than will pass day after surgical intervention. First, the cat is offered soft food, and portions should be small - literally 2-3 teaspoons. Dry food in the first week should be excluded from the diet.

In cats after sterilization, the metabolism slows down a little, and appetite on the contrary increases significantly, which can cause obesity. To prevent this, the diet should be made in accordance with the recommendations of the veterinarian and in any case not overfeed your pet.
