Houses. Master Class

Before you get started, do not forget to stock up on stacks, a plastic cup of the right size, a set of bright colors, toothpicks, a rolling pin, a grater and, of course, a wonderful New Year's mood.

We make the basis

Roll out the dough with a rolling pin. You should get a thin and even layer 3-4 mm wide. Take a small cup from under the yogurt, moisten its walls with water and gently wrap the base in the dough. With the clerical knife, align the protruding edges and remove any excess. For the roof, you can use a variety of materials: paper, food foil or foam. Make a cone of the right size, glue it with dough strips and place it on top of the structure.

We make out a cabin of salted dough

With a toothpick or stack, give the walls a brick masonry look. Separately roll a few pieces of dough for the door and window. Draw on them details of any shape and make shallow incisions with a spatula, so that you can imitate boards. If desired, you can make them crossbeams, handles, trim or shutters. After that, go to the roof. New Year's house of salted dough will look very nice, if you work hard on this important detail. So, you can cut narrow strips of dough with a figured edge and lay them overlapping the cone of the roof. If you prefer a more original design, then roll thin sausages out of the dough and braid them with the top of the design. Add here a few towers, a pipe or a clock. While the basis of our crafts dries up, it's time to start preparing important details.

Decoration from multi-colored dough

A house made of salted dough can be decorated with various techniques: place on it the silhouettes of a snowman, snow-covered bushes, a tree and much more. In order to get a deep and rich color for these figures, prepare a few pieces of colorful dough. To do this, take the right amount of product, apply it with a brush paint and re-mix it. If you want to give a three-dimensional texture to the details, then grate the colored pieces on a small grater and fasten them on the walls or the roof. From them you can make a red Santa Claus fur coat, a spiny herringbone or a fluffy rabbit.

The final stage

After the house of the salted dough completely dries, you can go to the final stage of our creative process. Take paint and brushes of different sizes, and then paint the finished craft. Use any colors, do not be afraid to experiment, mix and get new shades. Do not forget to cover your product with lacquer at the very end. To make your New Year's house of salted dough look more festive, you can decorate it with artificial snow, glass beads or sparkles. And if you take care of holes in the window openings in advance, you can put a candle or a pair of LED bulbs inside .

We hope that you liked our version of the original Christmas craft made from salted dough. Houses made by own hands can become a wonderful gift, which children will present in the morning of January to their parents, friends or teachers. And if you install them under a tree, on a window sill or a refrigerator, they will serve as an addition to the festive decor of your apartment.
