A cartoon is a satirical reflection of reality

The word "caricature" is derived from the Italian word for exaggeration. In the present sense, a caricature is a way to expose the impartial essence of an object in a ridiculous or ridiculous way. In the same way, they ridicule the everyday, social or socio-political situations that concern society.

Origins

Caricature in human life appeared many centuries ago. It seems that the image of reality in this vein has always existed. There was a time when a caricature, mostly political, was strictly forbidden.

The first caricature we know in the world is the image of Ramses III, painted on papyrus more than three thousand years ago. Even today, the message of this heritage is understandable, showing the irrelevance and comicality of the vain Ramesses, who ordered the painting of the walls of the temple with drawings of his personal life. For modest residents of Egypt, this requirement was excessive, so they spilled out their dissatisfaction, creating various satirical images. The picture in question is currently being kept in the British Museum.

A feature of caricature works of the past epochs was a significantly enlarged image of the head relative to the body. At that time it seemed very funny and funny.

Poetic parodies

Since for the most part the satirical image of reality is expressed in an artistic way, the poetic caricature as a genre does not exist. Caricature in verse - it's a parody of famous works, emphasizing some imperfections of the original or its ridiculous sides.

In addition, the poetic caricature is a small quatrains explaining and supplementing the satirical meaning of the cartoon or portrait.

To date, verse satire has found wide application in the field of status in social networks, and is also used as "smart thoughts" attributed to famous people. Often the basis for such a parody takes a famous poem, which is reworked to convict the comedic side of a situation that is not related to the initial work. A vivid example of such a cartoon:

"The frost and the sun are a wonderful day!

The blue of the sky, the frost on his face ...

You would be relevant in January ...

But not in April ... not at the end! "

Humor and caricature

Any caricature is created to ridicule any situation. But humor, like laughter, is different. More often caricaturists expect a bitter grin over their truthful, albeit exaggerated, depiction of reality.

Cartoons are funny, ironic, politically or socially sharp pictures. It should be noted that most often the smile is a cartoon, which is a kind and original compliment from the artist.

Contemporary cartoon

For today in our country the caricature is not officially recognized genre, nevertheless it is difficult to overestimate the influence of this informal trend on the perception of reality. A cartoon is a way to reveal and show the imperfections not only of a particular person, but of the whole society. During the Great Patriotic War cartoonists supported the morale of Soviet soldiers, regularly releasing ironic and satirical images of the fascists.

Caricature today has a bright personality, has an obvious political message. More often for caricatures images of celebrities, sportsmen and politicians are used. The modern caricature is a reflection of freedom of speech, which grows, becoming more and more necessary, more urgent, sharper, and completely different from the humor of the "big goals" of previous years.
